Alphabeat Cast a Pop Spell at Santos Party House

UK-based Danish pop band, Alphabeat, rounded out their first trip to the States with a debut New York City performance on March 23, 2010. Having already won over a crowd in Austin during last week's SXSW, the fire burning beneath this band on the rise only got hotter with last night's fantastic set.

The Scandinavian sixsome were welcomed to the stage with thunderous applause. A rowdy crowd of dedicated Stateside fans filled the room at Santos to capacity, and they didn't stop singing and dancing the ewntire night, as the pop troupe powered through hits like Fascination, Boyfriend and The Spell. (video of finale, Fascination, is a short scroll down)

Main man, Anders SG, commented on the fact that the audience knew every word to each song, remarking "the album isn't even out here yet, but it's good you know the words, no matter how you got the album!"

Between the complimentary vocals of Anders and Stine, complete with a tight backing set, their quick and pop-filled performance was one that new and existing fans won't soon forget. The band extended their genuine appreciation to the excited concert-goers before jumping off stage and over to the after party at Darkroom, where the night ended with dancing, drinks and an Alphabeat DJ set.

This sounds utterly wonderful. I have heard of Souvenier Press before but may have to go and find out more as I have heard they do some wonderful classics. I love the idea of Aunts in France. Great post Elaine!
