The Roots to Release 9th Studio Album on June 8

The Roots have revealed that their forthcoming studio album, How I Got Over, will be released on June 8. The band's drummer and DJ, Questlove, posted the release date via his twitter account. Aaahh, the power of our bird-friendly connector!

Further details of the album, which will be the band's first since 2008's Rising Down, are forthcoming, although How I Got Over will have political influences, like the presidencies of George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

Among the tracks expected to make the cut are Walk Alone, a vintage R&B-leaning Make a Move, The Day featuring Icelandic vocalist Patty Crash and a cover of Frank Zappa's instrumental classic Peaches en Regalia. The album is also expected to include a version of Cody Chesnutt's Serve This Royalty. The title track was let out last year.

Additionally, the band have also started work on a new album with Booker T, and is expected to feature a slew of guest vocalists.
