M.I.A. - Born Free (new video!)

After last week's near implosion of the internet, thanks to a new song from M.I.A., today we're pretty psyched to get born and get free. As our gal sings "I don't wanna live for tomorrow, so I push myself today...", we fully support that notion, and have been singing Born Free for the better part of the weekend.

This new song, however, is not all about the bangin' beat and sheer radness of the tune. No, as Maya likes to do, she makes social issues the forefront of her effort, albeit while keeping listeners entertained with a great arrangement.

Born Free is political, it's personal, and it's quite the nice piece of material for M.I.A. to introduce us to what her new album may sound like, which is due out on June 29. The video for the track was directed by Romain-Gavras, and gets a hefty extension to a near 10-minute short feature of brutality, sex, drugs, armed forces and destruction.
