Andy Bell - Call On Me (Hey Champ Remix)

Today's "just because" post comes courtesy of Pete, of the super-rad band Hey Champ. I don't think dude knows how much I love Erasure, and what with Andy Bell of the famed electropop duo off releasing solo material, this fits nicely into my Beastly-rapport.

That said, Pete sent an email with the mix, and while I'd already once or twice received from various outlets, his message hit me at the right time and frame of mind to enjoy Hey Champ's fun and disco-sampling, club-ready mix of Bell's single, Call On Me.

Just because it's oh so good...and now you all know of my Erasure-affinity, as if I hadn't already expressed that multiple times in these pages prior.

High fives!

Bxentric - BXENTRIC Mix

This is definitely a multi-purpose post, and thanks to rad-man, Bxentric, we only need to have writ up this one piece. Why, you ask? See, I've been on a bender lately. A music bender in which nearly every other song I press play for results in his mix of Flight Facilities' Crave You blasting through my headphones. Best addiction to have. Truth.

Bxentric

So that led me to today's "diggings" for more from the UK mix-master, resulting in an almost hour-long mix he put together of some of the best new, official, and as of yet unheard remixes of your favorite songs.

Within the mix, he's got Russ Chimes' official hit of Mark Ronson's Bang Bang Bang (I DIE), along with DFA-dude Tim Goldsworthy's rub up of Monarchy's Love Get Out Of My Way that makes me want to cry because it is 100% perfection in every way. Other bits we love include the Villa mix of Ali Love, some Munk, Mano and Breakbot. Hell, lemme just give you the full track list, then stream the mix. Ultimately, scroll all the ways down for a special treat that kind of brings this all full circle.

Jenny Wilson Playing Two Intimate NYC Dates

Jenny Wilson, Swedish songstress and guest vocalist for one of my favorite tracks from The Knife, is coming to New York City in two weeks, and there's really no reason for you not to check out one of her two small venue shows she's getting ready for.

Jennywilson_nycshows

After catching her debut NYC performance during CMJ last year, and subsequently falling in love with her album, Hardships (finally due out in the US on August 24 via Gold Medal Recordings), Wilson appears to be Sweden's best kept secret. For those lucky enough to have caught her last year, however, oh we know. We know.

Now, Jenny's coming back to the city for two nights of amazing music. First up, she'll hit Union Hall on Tuesday July 13 (ticketsbefore jumping over to Pianos (tickets) the following evening for her second performance. There's no doubt in mind that I'll be at one of these gigs and I'd encourage you to check out her tunes and hit up her live affair.

Straddling the line between R&B, gospel, and pop, Jenny stuns audiences with her powerful live shows. Not to be missed.

Andrew W.K. - I Want To See You Go Wild (video)

PARTY PARTY PARTY HEAD BANG AT A PARTY. If you're ever feeling down in the dumps, I'd advise you to turn on some Andrew W.K.. NOt only because his music will inevtiably make you cheer the hell up, but the dude is the champion of all positivity and a genuinely rad as shit human being. That said, he's got a new video, and he's brought along some animated pals.

Andrewwk_newvideo

I Want To See You Go Wild comes from his latest effort, Close Calls With Brick Walls, a release that sees Andrew abandoning the "wall of sound" on his previous piano-based output, and returning back to his hard rocking roots.

The video for the song is out now, and hell if you don't smile while watching this. Written, directed, and produced by Peter Glantz, with art by Gunsho and animation by Thomas McConnell, it's noted that Andrew W.K. did all his own stunts for this action packed clip. Not like we ever doubted that, considering his penchant for thrashing and the fact that he's played shows even while restricted to a wheelchair. Proof.

Party on, indeed. Watch the video now.

HURTS' Wonderful Life Single to be Released on August 16, Album News and New Remix

Had a brief break in HURTS-ing you over the past few weeks, but with this piece comes the ushering in of official news...great, rad, awesome news even. But then again, when haven't I been super geeked to reveal some bit of info surrounding the Mancunian duo of Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson. Hey HURTS, bring on the pain!

Hurtsremix

First note of worth: HURTS will release Wonderful Life as an official single on August 16. This comes as their sophomore release after Better Than Love, which has been popping up on the UK Dance charts since it's unveiling.

Second bit you need to know: looks as though HURTS will release their self-titled debut album on August 23 in the UK (as per Amazon), and maybe possibly even on September 6 in the US under the title, Happiness (as per their Wiki). Either way, the boys are coming and it is going to be oh so amazing. I guarantee it.

Third and lastly: this coincides with point #1. There's a remix of Wonderful Life from Mantronix, and it's all I've had on for the better portion of the hour. And now it can be yours too.

Beastly Bits #106

I feel like I have a fever of the same degree...106. Well, in actuality it's not so high...

Beastlybits106

...and if one more person asks me if I need cowbell for the fever, slaps will be administered. Along with a nice dish of the bits. Cheers!

Martin Solveig & Dragonette - Hello (new video!)

What a way to start the day. A little tennis action, some new Martin Solveig music, featuring Canadian friends Dragonette (who've just launched a new web site along with announcement of a new single) and a pretty rad video to boot. If you recall, last year Solveig teamed up with the band for Boys and Girls, a track with the support of Jean Paul Gaultier, and an equally stylized video. Today, we carry on in that tradition, sans major fashion designer.

Martinsolveig

Hello is the new single from Martin's forthcoming album, Smash. The track is a jaunty little pop number, and we dig it, but hell, we're gonna go all tennis terminology on you and say the video is ACE and we LOVE it. Sports references!

The clip features Bob Sinclar, French comedian Gregory Darsa and tennis stars Novak Djokovic and Gael Monfils. The video was shot at Roland Garros in Paris in front of a real audience during the French Open.

Toss on a sweatband and watch the long-player below.

Estelle Darlings and DJ Trauma Present: #ialmostmadeamixtape

Is that a hashtag as a mixtape name? BIG UPS Estelle! And DJ Trauma of course. Who knew the British songstress was even making a mixtape as of late? I surely didn't, but hey, here we go into spinnin' and listenin' time.

Estellemixtape

#ialmostmadeamixtape is 16 cuts of nearly all new material, with some familiar beats and hooks dropped in for added flavor. #ialmost didn't download this, but I'm glad I did. It's been sound-tracking my afternoon like a boss. This prefaces her "coming later this year" disc, All of Me.

Download the mixtape here. Track list is below, and some fun slices of awesomeness from the release are after that.

Eli Escobar (featuring Amanda Blank) - Love Thing Part 3 (Only You) [new video!]

After getting Eli Escobar's Love Thing EP serviced out last week, his 4-part player has been on a certain sort of repetition here in Beastonia for the past several days. It's like house lounge with a buttery smooth topper, and if that description isn't enough to satsify you, then maybe some visuals will aid in your gobblings up of his new tunes too. Oh yeah, yum and yum.

Eliescobar_video

With each track parlaying pretty killer emotions via la dance floor, the third song, Love Thing Pt. 3 (Only U) immediately sticks out, not just because our girl Amanda Blank sings* some deep stuff, but because even before today's video came out, I already had some visuals in mind. And they're not that far off.

Crying, smeared makeup, stoic self-portraits. Oh, and there's some thievery in a drugstore. Didn't really see that part coming, but it rounds out the story.

Watch the video that makes me feel real girl feelings now and then buy Eli's EP here.

* FYI if you've caught Blank live over the past year...she sings this song as an intro before jumping up into Might Like You Better. Took me a while to realize why it sounded so familiar, but bam bam bang, figured it out.
