Killa Kela - Everyday (DCUP Remix)

How much do I love DCUP's productions and remixes? Enough to not say much more and just let you in on his fantastic and fresh take on Killa Kela's Everyday. It's like this song fits in so perfectly with the amazing weather we've got in NYC this afternoon.

Sunshine vibes!

Introducing: Natalia Kills

When you enter the realm of all things beastly, you're gonna get hit with a lovely sprinkling of music from all genres. And then on certain occasions, we go waaay into guilty pleasure mode and pull out a "trashy banger" (honestly meant in the most complimentary fashion...seriously), and get that ish on repeat like a boss. So let's give a hello to Natalia Kills. She's been on our radar, and a bunch of our friends' sites over the past few months, but it's time we give her due props. Onward!

Natalia Kills is a British artist (she's actually half-Jamaican and Uruguayan!), who's recently been signed to Cherrytree Records. She's had a few singles circulating, including Activate My Heart and Zombie, but it's her newest single, Mirrors, that's got me in a ridiculous frenzy. After the teaser went up earlier this week, the full track eventually found its way out, and I'd be lying if I said it wasn't one of my most played songs as of late.

The song is both apt for radio play and perfect for late night grinds and grooves. Plus, when you've got lyrics like, "turning the lights out // tighten the handcuffs // and the mirrors gonna fog tonight...", I mean whoa...hot.

Keep an eye and ear out for her in coming weeks, cause I expect beastly-amazing things from Camp Kills. She'll make your love grenade explode.

of Montreal (featuring Solange Knowles) - Sex Karma (new song!)

Odd, that I just had a conversation with someone two nights ago about not being the hugest of Montreal fan, and here they swoop in, with a late night hit, that's got me rethinking their vibes. Bringing their new song, Sex Karma, along with old pal Solange Knowles, to Jimmy Fallon last night, the troupe performed the track, which in its entirety, is a little weird, funkily "out there", but straight away carving a cool little space in my heart. Good on you, kids.

Sky Ferreira - Wish I Stayed (new/old cover)

Dramas, back stories and intrigue, ooh la la! Well, kind of... Here's the deal: you might immediately recognize this song, either via the title or through listening, because Sky Ferreira's Wish I Stayed, is in actuality, an Ellie Goulding song. So wait, how does that enter into our world as such today? Let's read on, mmmkay?

Ms. Goulding wrote and recorded Wish I Stayed, upon whence Frankmusik asked Ms. Ferreira to record it. Sky changed up the structure of the song, which prompted Ellie to block the release, furthering on to change the way SHE sang it (in order to be like Sky's version), and that's it in a nutshell. Really old drama. Really great cover, demo, original, whatever you want to call it.

It should also be noted that there will be a Frankmusik and Sky collaboration on her new album. No more drama, hey Mary J, hey.

Zola Jesus - Stridulum (Creatures of Love Remix)

To my knowledge, there aren't many, if any, remixes of Zola Jesus' striking music that I've seen floating around. And frankly, the darkly-haunting and moving songs really need no reworking, so I suppose if you're going to fix 'er up, you better do it in great fashion. Let's welcome Creatures of Love into our beastly-world. They know the deal...

As mentioned a few weeks ago, ZJ is re-releasing the Stridulum EP, as Stridulum II, with bonus tracks...so in case you missed grabbing it the first go-round, you can pre-order the August 23 release here.

But it's London's COL who we're crushing on as of this moment, because they've taken the title track and given it an even deeper industrial-tech wash, turning the already creepily-awesome original into an even spookier and spectacular re-envisioning. Big echoey drums and a rumbling grit make this a great alternative to the song, by pulling out the vocals and opting for chanted oohs and ehhs throughout the mix.

Additionally, check out Creature of Love's original material on the 'Space. I'm sold...especially since their front-woman's name is Bonita, and that is pretty spectacular.

Robyn's iheartradio Session: Pictures & Video!

Yes yes, last night our favorite Swedish singer and swoon-instigator, Robyn, hit up the PC Richard Theater to tape a session for iheartradio. If you've traveled here to the Beaston files throughout the course of the week, you'll know I've gone certifiably Robyn-crazy...and with every good reason. After her All Hearts Tour on Wednesday with Kelis, she jumped downtown to tape an exclusive set for the streaming station. I gave away tickets, my winners reported an AMAZING time, and here is the visual proof already. We work fast here...

The Hundred In The Hands - Pigeons (new video!)

Or, the post in which I continue to profess my appreciation for this band. Here, we have the new video for Pigeons, which comes from The Hundred in the Hands' self-titled debut album. The clip is directed by Daniels and finds a slightly grogged-out protagonist vomiting up fireworks. Killer.

All is Full of Love: Robyn and Kelis Bring Their All Hearts Tour to Music Hall of Williamsburg

When Robyn and Kelis announced their joining of forces for their one-two punch of a dance-pop bill earlier this summer, it was with 100% anticipatory fan-girl excitement that I began counting down the days to their All Hearts Tour pit stop in NYC. Last night's first showing at Music Hall of Williamsburg (2 more sold out shows at Webster Hall next week) was precisely the excitable romp and rad time I could have ever imagined. Having seen both artists perform prior, this super special double headlining bill left me weak, wowed and wielding a heart ready to burst with adoration and appreciation.

Opening the evening's festivities were Far East Movement. Although the crowd was still noticeably thin for the early set from the Los Angeles hip-hop troupe, they took the stage with more energy than I can recall an act ever having for a 7pm time-slot. Following their lead, London's Dan Black began his set with my favorite of his tunes, Pump My Pumps, which comes from his debut album, ((UN)). Near the end of his time, the room began to fill more rapidly, as wanting hearts were eager for the girls to get their groove on.

Telephoned - Keep Their Heads Ringin' (free mixtape!)

Fool’s Gold’s dynamic duo, Telephoned, have put together a seriously kickass new mixtape, Keep Their Heads Ringin, just in time for their opening slot on Chromeo’s US tour (which kicked off this week with shows in DC and Philly, before hitting Bowery Ballroom tonight). The mixtape gives listeners a perfect taste of the new sounds that Maggie Horn and Sammy Bananas have woven into their repertoire of party starting not-quite-cover songs.
