Recap, Playlist, Archive: Sheena Beaston on East Village Radio with Hesta Prynn, Fam & Friends

On Friday, we started our (and hopefully your) weekend off with a bang by doing what we do. And what we do, is occasionally fill-in on East Village Radio for our pal Jason, during his Accidental Rhythm show. In case you weren't tuned in (in which case....psssshhaw on you!), here's what went down.

With a last minute "hey girl hey, can you come on down and dish out some tunes" request, there wasn't enough hours in the day for me to get my ish together and do something super rad. But that's where friends, family and the fantastic Hesta Prynn came to the rescue. Pop-ins from my friend Samantha, my sister and her husband (check out their band) and the former Northern State singer all helped make the show a robust beast of a two-hour shindig.

I also announced that my own show will be starting this week on July 15, and it's gonna happen on the regular, every Thursday from 8-10pm! (more on that later) And there was music. Good stuff too. Including No Mercy's Where Do You Go. THAT's how we roll.

Sheena Beaston and Dominique Young Unique on East Village Radio's Accidental Rhythm Tomorrow

If the saying is true that the "third time's a charm", then by golly, I'm swimming in a sea of gems and trinkets and pretty little baubles and things. Ok, so maybe that's an exaggeration, but when I round out my 3-week stint on East Village Radio tomorrow, there's only one way to celebrate properly. And that's by bringing in one of my favorite new artists...and she's soon to be yours as well.

The long and the short of it goes as such: Accidental Rhythm takes place this Friday, June 11, from 4-6pm EST. It's our last round of filling in for Jason Eldredge while he's been on vacation. I might cry...this has been too much fun.

I'll have special guest, Dominique Young Unique, in the booth with me during the time slot to chat about her music, preview her show tomorrow night at Webster Hall (tickets here), have a rad time, and to debut some exclusive first listens to tracks from her brand new mixtape, Domination. I've had a listen to the offering in its entirety...and let's just say, it's been the only thing I've had on all morning. On repeat. Again and again.

I'm labeling this show a "must tune in". Hey, or you could swing by the booth to high five us and take pictures. That would be cool too.

Recap, Playlist, Archive: Sheena Beaston on East Village Radio and Contest Winner!

Just a quick recap of last Friday's fun in the sun. It sure was a hot one, both out on the street and inside the East Village Radio booth. No special guests this go round, but a special feature did appear, and we ran an open-submission contest and got a ton of you to toss your ditties my way. Great stuff.

And you know what? We had such a beastly blast jumping behind the mic again, that we're doing it a third time! We're back on-air this Friday, June 11 from 4-6pm, filling in for Jason on Accidental Rhythm. It's his last week of vacation. Whatever will I do with my time once he's back? (quick, someone kidnap him now!)

Without further ado...another congratulations to Sleet Walker for his winning entry/remix of Uffie's Pop the Glock. And below, the full playlist of last week's edition, or if you've yet to listen, do so because the show is archived right here.

Sheena Beaston Takes Over Accidental Rhythm on East Village Radio Tomorrow, May 28, 4-6pm

Way back when I was but a fledgling beast of less than "double digits" years old, my wildest "when I'm grown up" dream was to become a radio DJ who also was the first female president and a major league baseball player. Shenanigans! Thankfully, the latter two were fleeting and flighty at best, probably thanks to something I saw on tv or overheard my siblings waxing on about. The former is a "hell yeah" moment that we get to live out tomorrow!

Our buddy, Jason, who normally hosts the two hours of stellar music programming on Fridays from 4-6pm on East Village Radio, decided to jet outta town and take a vacation. Deservedly so, but lucky for us, he's entrusting his end-of-the-work-week time-slot to this beast, and color me all sorts of excited.

I'm ready to spin rad tunes, stutter over my words, and generally speaking, let you all listen to my ramblings. It'll be like you're reading this site, only you get to hear me in your ears too. Kickass! One of my latest "obsessed about" bands, The Hundred in the Hands, will also be dropping by the booth during that time to talk shop and help me play some killer tunes.

It's the Friday before Memorial Day too...so when that 5'o'clock whistle blows tomorrow, you better be tuned in (here) while I drop a dandy banger to set your long weekend off on the right foot. Let's get rad!
