RJD2 - The Shining Path (Alan Wilkis Remix)

Talented turntablist and all around radman musician, RJD2, released his 4th studio album, The Colossus, back in January of this year. And while we haven't spent a whole lot of time with it, our pal Alan Wilkis dropped by today with a swift kick, née, reminder, for us to get back on the R-train.

One of the standout cuts from the album is The Shining Path, which features the silky vocals of Phonte Coleman from Little Brother / Foreign Exchange. With a new Wilkis remix to compliment the original, you can assure that there's a generous dosage of swooning happening here in Beastonia this afternoon.

AW slows the track a bit, but not before adding some super funky keys and the magical dusting of his midas touch.

If that's not enough motivation for you to grab, then just know that this is RJD2-approved. He says it himself here. Win!

Yeasayer - Ambling Alp (Alan Wilkis Remix)

The sexy subtlety that is an "Alan Wilkis remix" has once again been bestowed upon Beastonia. Forget any more intro-ing; I'm ready to dive right into this.

Hot off the announcement earlier today that Yeasayer, Major Lazer and Sleigh Bells will be touring together this Spring, I've been giving the experimentally-excellent Brooklyn band's newest disc, Odd Blood, a heavy dose of attention today.

Fitting then, that our inbox blew up with a Wilkis-special, that's been given the "thumbs up" by the originators themselves.

Grabbing lead single, Ambling Alp, and playing up the ornery tricks and ticks of the original, our buddy Alan gave us a new addition to our OB-playlist. He cuts out nearly a minute of the song, but we're not mad at him. No, quite the opposite. 3 minutes of fun and punchy power.
