Download the New Mobroder EP from Scion A/V

I've been hearing rumblings about Mobroder since making a vacational trip to LA last April, and now finally, I've got some good tunes to share from this project, which pairs Spank RockBlu Jemz and Hoff on the production tip. In an attempt to channel legendary Italian producer Giorgio Moroder while working on the project, the trio put out the Rush EP effort via Scion A/V, and it features reinterpretations of the Mobroder track Rush by Turbotito, In Flagranti, Hardy Boyz, and Nile Delta, with a bonus cut featuring Amanda Blank.

Get the full on fun here, or grab that bonus cut below.

Last Night: So You Think You Can Dance's Blog-Worthy Musical Selections

It's rare that I find myself perched in front of a television in the evening hours during the week, especially during the summer months. Usually at a show, a friend's abode or perhaps a watering hole, last night, I stayed in thanks to a head cold, and found myself drawn into watching FOX's So You Think You Can Dance. Far be it from me to turn to reality programming, however, over the past few seasons of the show, it's one that I can always count on to entertain.

This season's "catch" is that the top 10 (now 9 and after tonight's results, 8) dancers are paired up with "all-stars" from previous seasons. For this music-minded telly-tuner-inner, however, it's the song choices that highlight some great, and some ooof yikes, choreographed numbers. SYTYCD has always had a solid rapport for choosing slightly "obscure for the general public" styled songs. (Think Roisin Murphy's Ramalama Bang Bang in Season 2.)

Now in its seventh season, last night's episode proved no different...although this go 'round, both the partner dances and individual solos were dotted with tunes known well throughout the land of blogs. If the show maintains this heightened level of musicality, you can assure I'll skip a few more venue gigs, stay at home to watch, then most likely embarrass myself by learning the choreographies.

Ladies and gentlemen, beasts, boys and girls...here are the blog-worthy routines, with video evidence.

N.E.R.D. (featuring Nelly Furtado) - Hot-N-Fun

Eli Escobar (featuring Amanda Blank) - Love Thing Part 3 (Only You) [new video!]

After getting Eli Escobar's Love Thing EP serviced out last week, his 4-part player has been on a certain sort of repetition here in Beastonia for the past several days. It's like house lounge with a buttery smooth topper, and if that description isn't enough to satsify you, then maybe some visuals will aid in your gobblings up of his new tunes too. Oh yeah, yum and yum.

With each track parlaying pretty killer emotions via la dance floor, the third song, Love Thing Pt. 3 (Only U) immediately sticks out, not just because our girl Amanda Blank sings* some deep stuff, but because even before today's video came out, I already had some visuals in mind. And they're not that far off.

Crying, smeared makeup, stoic self-portraits. Oh, and there's some thievery in a drugstore. Didn't really see that part coming, but it rounds out the story.

Watch the video that makes me feel real girl feelings now and then buy Eli's EP here.

* FYI if you've caught Blank live over the past year...she sings this song as an intro before jumping up into Might Like You Better. Took me a while to realize why it sounded so familiar, but bam bam bang, figured it out.

Eli Escobar's Love Thing EP Out Now

Currently cranking up the Beatport chart and out on iTunes July 13 via Plant Music, Eli Escobar's Love Thing EP is a hum diddly of a housey rad time. The 4-track player has each track named as the EP's title, but broken into the quadrant parts, ie: Love Thing Part 1, and so on. Note to the wise: you are going to love this thing. Ingenuity in words!

It should be mentioned that Love Thing Part 3: Only You features the inimitably-awesome, and Beaston-approved to the max, Amanda Blank, who trades in her tough-girl bravado and unleashes her inner songstress. Mucho amor! This is not the first time Eli and Amanda teamed up. The two worked together on a remix of Britney Spears' Gimme More in 2007, which frankly, only helped work that song into our listening rotations.

You can stream Eli Escobar's Love Thing EP in the SoundCloud player below. Also, nom up that Brit track, just cause it's pretty cool.

Amanda Blank, MNDR and Pacific Theater Played the Keep-A-Breast Benefit at Bell House

"Tonight we're playing for tits!" "Everyone should just flash their boobs." "I used to stuff my bra when I was little." These were just some of the sentiments expressed by Amanda Blank, MNDR and Pacific Theater, as they paired up with the Keep-A-Breast foundation for a night of music to benefit the organization's notion to expose young people to methods of protection, early detection and support through art and educational programs.

Although the inclement weather threatened to keep a crowd of the organization's and artists' supporters at bay, The Bell House played refuge to those seeking shelter from a rainy Monday night in Brooklyn. Local band Pacific Theater kicked off the soirée with their new wave shoegazer tunes, which at times, gives way to lead vocalist Dan Ryan channeling his best Adam Duritz.

Our fave gal pal, MNDR, always puts her best foot forward, even while wearing a hospital bracelet. Yep, she was battling a severe case of the flu the day prior, yet still managed to get the crowd enthused with her ever-infectious repertoire of nerdcore and electro-infused awesomeness. Spotted: a few new fans giving her props after the set. High fives for her indeed! (also, we really need that Patty Hearst song on our iPod...just saying...)

Finally, Amanda Blank got the crowd jumping with a short and sweet set of her best cuts from debut album, I Love You. Even though we've seen her more than not over the past year, we still get super amped every time she performs. With a quick lip and command of the crowd, she ran all over the stage, changed attire and energized the slightly soggy audience. Highlight: Blank spits her track Make-Up straight into Lemme Get Some then reworks 99 Problems into the mix. And yep, there's a video of it below.

Full sets of pictures from the event can be found here, a few choice images below, and 2 videos follow.

Amanda Blank and MNDR: Keep-A-Breast Benefit Show at Bell House on April 26

Last year, Amanda Blank dominated our show-going experiences. At last count (and up through this year) I think there was talk of having seen her around seven times? Yeah, we kind of dig her live show...color us a fan. Incumbent obsession, MNDR (hey, they're both named Amanda!), slipped in near the waning months of 2009 and all the way through last month, she's quickly ready to eclipse Blank for the title of "most viewed by a beast". Never fear though, because both team up for a great cause later this month.

Together with Brooklyn band, Pacific Theater, the two join forces on April 26 at The Bell House for the Keep-A-Breast Benefit Show.

100% of profits from this event will go to the Keep A Breast Foundation, a 501 (c) (3) non-profit organization, whose mission is to help eradicate breast cancer by exposing young people to methods of prevention, early detection and support. Through art events, educational programs and fundraising efforts, they seek to increase breast cancer awareness among young people so they are better equipped to make choices and develop habits that will benefit their long-term health and well-being.

Tickets for the 18+ show are only $15 and can be purchased here. Save some boobies and see some rad music in the process.

MaadMoiselle (ft Amanda Blank and Precise) - Something Better

Last year, Amanda Blank dropped her debut album, I Love You, and it quickly became one of our most listened to releases of the past 7 months. One of our favorite cuts, Something Bigger, Something Better, is a glock-poppin' romp with nasty spit lyrics off a fiery tongue. That said, if you're going to rework this song and get our Beastly-approval, you best do it right...enter, MaadMoiselle.

This New Jersey-based r&b chick roped the production team of Lady & a Tramp to help re-imagine the original banger. With silky vocals giving the track a sturdy base (as opposed to Blank's original quicklipped rhymes), the song has been taken from a gnarly and hard street stomper to a sensual slide into bedroom-eyed badassery.

Amanda Blank's Nice and Nasty Affair at Santos

To call ourselves "Amanda-aficionados" is a bit of a loaded statement, but in having seen her six (6!) times in 2009, and now, this past Friday at Santos Party House, yeah, we're going to move forward with that descriptor as such. Joined by the opening act of the Bronxian ball of energy, Maluca (who we chatted with last year), Amanda Blank's stage show proves that she loves you...she really really loves you.

Most notably present this evening, was the teeming crowd of supporters for Blank. Having seen her perform for crowds of everywhere from 30 to 3000, the anticipatory and anxiously-evident vibe of her supporters was felt from our first step into the venue. Cranking through nearly every cut of her album (which remains a mainstay on her "go-to" playlist), she was joined on stage by Maluca, for a riotous rendition of Make It, Take It

Check out a video from the show of Amanda doing her reprised ending of Lemme Get Some, jump below for images, and view a full set of pictures here.

Amanda Blank continues on her stateside tour in support of I Love You with dates through February 20. More information here. Maluca is also on tour throughout the spring. Info here.
