Open your ears and hearts you little beasts...for something so worthy of your attention that I didn't even listen to A-Trak's remix of Robyn's Indestructible all the way through before opening up this page to start writing and posting and swooning. So now, I'm doing all three of those actions whilst the remainder of the song plays and you should probably join me on this sexy lil' journey right now.

 

 

Annie Mac debuted this fix on her Friday night show over on the BBC's Radio 1. Love ya girl, but hey musicians, DJs and producers, how's about sharing the wealth with another chick who's got the Thursday night radio radness tip on lock here in the States.

The 2 Bears: Debut EP and Annie Mac Minimix

Super duo radness! That's who The 2 Bears are...or more formally, they are Raf Rundell (a South London club promoter and DJ through the alter-moniker Greco-Roman Soundsystem) and the more well-known dude Joe Goddard (producer, remixer and member of Hot Chip). Together, they've collaborated as the dual forest creatures via Southern Fried Records, and their first release is the Follow the Bears EP, out now.

 

   

In addition to the EP, which comes with a hearty helping of beefed up and beastly accoutrements, The 2 Bears also host a weekly radio show on Ministry of Sound Radio. Check it out here...and speaking of radio, these furry fools dropped in to Annie Mac's Friday night fun-fest this past week, and delivered one of the tightest mini-mixes we've heard this year on the program.

Mark Ronson: Album Art and Annie Mac Mix

This weekend started off with a bang [bang, bang], when Mark Ronson called in to Annie Mac's Friday show on BBC and had a proper chat and wax with the radio personality. Discussing his new album, Ronson also provided Ms. Mac with the evening's 5-minute minimix, which he dubbed Synth and Synthability. Punny!

 

 

Before spinning the mix (the second, after his 2007 amazing contribution), Annie announced that Mark would be joining her lineup at Ibiza Rocks this year. Major!

Last Friday, Yolanda Be Cool, the Australian house-production duo provided the weekly 5-minute minimix on Annie Mac's BBC broadcast. The blokes already found a way into my heart and on nearly every one of my playlists with their fab tune We No Speak Americano, the infectious collaboration with DCUP, and now we've got this nugget of nice nice to add into the repertoire.

Disco droolers beware...there's a new reason to salivate and it's all thanks to the new Monarchy single, as twisted and tossed up by NYC troupe, Holy Ghost!. Love Get Out Of My Way, in this version, is dripping in dance floor prevalent dulcets...with enough up and down toe-tapping radness to make your foray back into the post-holiday work week so much more enjoyable.

 

 

Here's the thing...aside from wanting to hear the original like whoa (the track will be out later this month), we got all sorts of giddy and privy to hearing this fix, thanks to the ever fantastic Annie Mac. She dropped this spectacular slice on her Friday radio show and hot damn we've got the recording.

 

So please make note: there's a bit of the Mac mouth for the first few seconds. Also note: holy radass this is badass.

The legendary Brit DJ and radio-show host is tossing out an exclusive mix of an already killer tune, so yeah, our admiration for her just continues to grow. It also helps that at SXSW she called me "so awesome". Grin.

I Blame Coco - Self Machine (La Roux Remix)

Just a little something to kick your weekend off on the right (and left, and hopefully dancing) foot! Here in Beastonia, we love I Blame Coco. We also are die-hard Annie Mac fans. So in tuning to the iconic UK DJ and radio-show host's Friday program earlier today, we got all abuzz when she premiered this tune.

 

 

Here's what you need to know. I Blame Coco's new single is called Self Machine. It is awesome and you can stream a bit of the original here.

 

La Roux has remixed the song and taken it from dancier to dreamier and it's been on repeat here for most of our afternoon. Perfect summer sidewalker!

I've been on a thorough quest to find out as much about HURTS, the emotionally-charged pop duo from the UK. So to chance upon a Fred Falke remix of their song, Unspoken, is nothing short of amazing. Yours for free to love and cherish, after some more words of mine.  

IAMSOUND presents: The LA Collection, a series of limited edition split 7-inches of all LA artists, including Edward Sharpe, Fool’s Gold, Dead Man’s Bones, Nosaj Thing amongst others. The first comes from eclectic dance purveyors We Are The World, out February 16. Details here.

Gorillaz Minimix for Annie Mac Show

This past Friday, Annie Mac kicked off her first February show in a major way. Guest A-Trak called in to chat shop, Riva Starr popped over with an essential mix and DJ Kofi from Gorillaz [Soundsystem] took control of the 5-minute minimix.

 

With their upcoming album, Plastic Beach, garnering all sorts of fan support, with but a single track out for listening, Gorillaz are poised to have our feet tapping to their cartoon beats yet again. Stylo is a finely-crafted tune, with a set of urgent vocals from Mos Def and Bobby Womack.

Not surprisingly, DJ Kofi uses the single within the mix. Think you know what else he drops in? Give it a listen below, along with a remix of said song.
