Duck Sauce - Goody Two Shoes (Louis Laroche Edit)

Finally. Something from Duck Sauce to make us never yearn to hit play on Barbra Streisand ever again. New tune, Goody Two Shoes, is another sweet sampled sounder that pulls from hot to trot disco ditty, Good to Me, from THP.

No, But Really: Who's Behind the Barbra Streisand Sample and Phenomenon?

Is there really any doubt that Duck Sauce's Barbra Streisand has become that one song which is universally accepted as a dance floor filler and fist pumper of a ditty, no matter the occasion or situation? No, there's not. And as much as I tire of it, there's really no escaping it, which lead me to do a little digging on the origins of the song, because as well as we all know how talented A-Trak and Armand Van Helden are, we also know that those dudes did not create what's become an iconic loop and sound. No dis on 'em, but some Germans and soul funk singers get all the credit here, brahs.

In 1973, kraut brothers Heinz and Jürgen Huth formed the band Nighttrain, which fell mostly into obscurity, save for their single, Hallo Bimmelbahn, which caught new life when revitalized and reimagined by fellow countrymen of the disco variety, Boney M, in 1979.

While the former "rockers" version is sung all in the native tongue, it's easy to hear the immediate infectiousness of the arrangement and now unmistakeable "ooh oo-oooh ooh oo-ooh oohs". Lots of tambourine in Nighttrain's version too. Solid.

Boney M lifted the track for sampling purposes on their single Gotta Get Home, complete with full chorused vocals and steel drums. This fix is much more reminiscent of Duck Sauce's current smash, and is quite strikingly similar in more ways than one: the opening rolling tones, the disco beat, the hand clapability factor, etc...

Regardless, this is one song, sample and selection that we won't soon hear the last of. In whichever way you like your funked out fun.

Duck Sauce - Barbara Streisand (O-God Remix)

What's your favorite Barbra Streisand movie? Rather, what's your fave song by the legendary lady of voice? How's about we forget all that nonsense and move on to what your new obsession riddled tune of the rapidly-approaching summer months is going to be? Yeah!

Duck Sauce, the duo known properly as A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, follow up the success of aNYway with another dandy fine disco-tinged tune that's sure to make your knees buckle from the absurd amount of dancing it will initiate.

The original track Barbara Streisand is super plus, but if it's something a bit shiftier with an amped up pace and beat, then grab the O-God remix. For something a bit truer to the initial trek, g'wan'n'git the One Duran fix.

Either way, they've got this funny girl dancing. (puns on film names! or are you all to young to get that...)

Uffie (featuring Pharrell) - ADD Suv (Armand Van Helden Vocal Remix)

Uffie and Pharrell and Armand Van Helden. It's like magic in my ears right now.

I can't even spend time writing words on this...I'm too busy jumping around and this needs everyone to be dancing to it immediately. And if you think for a second that it's the radio rip, think again. We only get serviced the best here in Beastonia.

Now say thanks and get grooving.
