Watch This Now: Rihanna Performs Medley at the American Music Awards

That is a misleading post title, because while I'm demanding you watch this clip of Rihanna performing live to open the AMA's earlier this evening, I'd also suggest that you do not view the video if you are a fan of excessive hip thrusts and crotch twirls. Simply, it may lead to spontaneous combustions if that's yer sort of "thing". Oh also, her voice sounds great during this medley of Love the Way You Lie, What's My Name and Only Girl (in the World), which can all be found on her current album, Loud. Katy, Christina, Miley who? Ri Ri is reppin' for us tan grrrrlls and she's killing everyone else in her path.

It's just been confirmed that Robyn will perform Dancing On My Own at this year’s MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday, September 12. She will share the stage with Deadmau5 and artists Jason Derulo and Travie McCoy in a collaborative mash-up.

Lady Gaga's The Remix Out in the US Today

It's not as if Lady Gaga needs any more promotional pushes, or gosh, more words writ and wrought by this solo blogger, but it's been quite a while since I've actually taken the time to write something relevant about what's going on in her Haus lately. So here we go: she's got a remix album out in the US today, that has already sold over 500k units internationally. Power.

First, for posterity's sake, let's look back at when I first fell in love with Gaga the pop star, not the St. Jerome's stage-strutting burlesque performer we knew way back whence. April 2008, and yes, you are all free to belly-laugh at the nonsense that is/was my site layout at the time. And now, here we are today, with the world's biggest pop-star poised to become even more celebrated, now with 13 MTV VMA Nominations, if in fact, we count popularity and world domination by the number of cable statues one receives from said show.

Below, the list of awards she's going to win. I know, I know....

Best Collaboration: Telephone & Video Phone (Extended Remix)
Best Female Video: Bad Romance & Video Phone (Extended Remix)
Best Pop Video: Bad Romance & Video Phone (Extended Remix)
Best Dance Music Video: Bad Romance
Video Of The Year: Bad Romance & Telephone
Best Art Direction: Bad Romance & Video Phone (Extended Remix)
Best Choreography: Bad Romance & Telephone & Video Phone (Extended Remix)
Best Cinematography: Bad Romance
Best Direction: Bad Romance
Best Editing: Bad Romance
Best Special Effects: Bad Romance

If you think you'd like to add a few more pennies into Gaga's drop-crotch pants-pockets, then you can purchase your copy of The Remix here. Below is the track list for the effort.

It is pretty excellent, innit.

1.  Just Dance (Richard Vision Remix)
2.  Poker Face (LLG Vs GlG Radio Mix Remix)
3.  Lovegame (Chew Fu Ghettohouse Fix ft Marilyn Manson)
4.  Eh, Eh (Frankmuzik Remix)
5.  Paparazzi (Stuart Price Remix)
6.  The Fame (Glam As You Remix)
7.  Bad Romance (Starsmith Remix)
8.  Telephone (Passion Pit Remix)
9.  Alejandro (Sound Of Arrows Remix)
10.  Dance in the Dark (Monarchy ‘Stylites’ Remix)

Beastly Bits #17

Grammy's aftermath! Did you watch? Were you pleasantly surprised or perfectly stunned? I have my thoughts even though I didn't watch this year. Thankfully, my twitter feed was blowing up with oft hilarious commentary.

No worries...we're all winners here. Collect your trophies below.

Yes, the Grammy's were held last night with Beyonce being the biggest winner of 'em all. For a full list of nominees and award winners, please direct your browser here.

We Have Band had one of my favorite songs in 2008 with Oh! They are finally releasing their debut album, WHB, on April 5, with the first single, Divisive, out on March 22. To celebrate they're giving away the song Honey Trap, and I'm giving you my aforementioned fave. Grab both below.

Hot Chip are streaming One Life Stand in its entirety on their MySpace. They will also be performing a "not-so-secret" and free MySpace show at Highline Ballroom this Friday. Good luck getting in.

I've been crushing on the few Crookers' tracks they've let out of the bag, from their upcoming LP, Tons of Friends. Steed Lord remixed their song, Transilvania, done with the Italian DJ duo and it's all yours below. Get ready to grin.

Williamsburg's The Woods is hosting ROCK + RESCUE tonight, with all proceeds donated to the Haiti rescue relief efforts. Info here.

STAYGOLD, Robyn, Spank Rock and Damien Adore - Backseat (live at P3 Guld Awards)

Preface: this is the best thing you will see and hear all day. After-preface: this is one of the finer collaborations/live performances you will see all year. Let's get on it.

Further proof of my undying love and affection for all things Swedish and electro/pop music-related, earlier this week a smashing mash of gifted musicians took the stage at the P3 Guld Awards. STAYGOLD, no stranger to my writings, joined up with Spank Rock, Robyn and Damien Adore to perform the boys' original track, Backseat. The added vocals from our beloved songstress really heighten the passion in this funky jam! I've got a super neat and tidy video of the performance below. Stay tuned for a tender embrace between Spank and Robyn at the 3:30 mark. How cute! I've had this on repeat all morning, and it's going to be on for the rest of the day. I guarantee it.
