Lykke Li - Get Some (Beck Remix)

Oh well happy Sunday morning to you too, Lykke Li... and Beck. After hearing the masterfully crafted 808 mix of the Swedish singers' new single, Get Some, by mic fiend Mike D, it was only a matter of time before we could 'ear the Odeladian's take on the same track.

Crunchy guitars and marching line drum beats perforate the original tune, and yep, we're shouting it out now, that this fix...

...is Beaston approved.

Beastly Bits #45

Tons to power through today...so get your scrolling fingers, open ears, and dancing shoes ready for a fun-filled ride through Beastonia. Oh, and it's Friday. What could be better?

And away we go...

Noel Gallagher played his first post-Oasis gig in London last night. How did it go? NME's got the dirt here.

Beck, Liars and St. Vincent cover INXS' Guns in the Sky as part of the funky folkster's Record Club series. Watch the radness unfold here.

Avian X is ready to unleash a new track to iTunes. World on Fire is a tight slice of quickly drummed and silkily sung vocals that highlight her unique tones. It's a bit rock-tinged, a little dubstep wobbly, and it's an exclusive clip below for free.

It's true. The Rock Band video game series will let out Jimi Hendrix's entire Axis: Bold as Love album as downloadable content. I cringed, but then thought, hey it would be super badass to fake shred on the legend's riffs. More info here.

Want a sweet little recap of some festivities from last week's SXSW? Check out East Village Radio for this week's Belly of the Beast.

Metric - Black Sheep (New Song on Scott Pilgrim vs The World OST)

After last year's teribbly brilliant release, Fantasies, Metric have offered to lend a hand to the upcoming film, Scott Pilgrim vs The World...in the form of a track on the soundtrack, as well as grabbing the reins behind one of the fictional bands in the film. It's all a little more than confusing, so I'll do my best to explain below.

Edgar Wright's upcoming adaptation of Bryan Lee O'Malley's comic series, Scott Pilgrim, is due out on August 13. The music-centric underdog superhero tale is helmed by Michael Cera, with a handful of additional indie-loving actors in tow. (ex: Jason Schwarztman, Anna Kendrick and Kieran Culkin). The plot centers around Pilgrim and the girl of his dreams, whom he can only be with by defeating evil ex-boyfriends. On top of that, each character has their own band. Whew!

Which bring us to Metric. Their song, Black Sheep, is basically performed in character during the movie. See, the Canadian outfit will be handling all the music for Scott Pilgrim's fictional band The Clash at Demonhead, while their semi-sister band Broken Social Scene will be "playing" Crash and the Boys. The music for Scott Pilgrim's own band Sex Bob-omb will be provided by folk-honey, Beck.

Fans of Metric may recognize the previously-unreleased track, as the band has performed it during their live sets a handful of times over the past few years. Video here.
