Tame Impala - Lucidity (new video!)

Tame Impala won't soon get off my most played list of 2010, thanks to their stunning debut, Innerspeaker. Champions of messy and fuzzy synthed out garage-rock, the Aussies know how to make loose sounds echo so tightly, and that fact is most evident in album track, Lucidity.

There's a great story behind the making of the new video for the aforementioned track, which you can read all about here, and includes tales of weather balloons, flights, spinning, and the like. Or you can watch the new clip for Lucidity below. The choice is yours really.

Also, after the vid, grab the Canyons remix of Tame Impala's Half Glass Full Of Wine. It pretty much slays faces.

Reminder: Tame Impala play Bowery Ballroom on November 18. Tickets here.

Ane Brun & Ólöf Arnalds: Bowery Ballroom Review

Took a bit of a breather from writing a review on this site, so I dished out some radness to the cool cats of East Village Radio. I checked out the Ane Brun and Ólöf Arnalds bill at Bowery Ballroom last night, and you can read all about it, including interviews with both ladies, at this link.

Feel free to laugh at my speaking voice. It's actually encouraged.

Local Natives - Airplanes (live on Craig Ferguson!)

I couldn't be kicking myself harder for not snagging a ticket to Local Natives' sold out shows at Bowery Ballroom last night and again this evening. After repeated listens of their brilliant album, Gorilla Manor, and then catching them at SXSW this year, I've become the biggest "Native-ite"...prompting friends to give a go at them with any opportune moment.

Thankfully, last night the LA boys dropped by, in pre-recorded fashion, the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Performing their song, Airplanes, this is as good as we'll get to seeing them live, until they hit The Beach at Governor's Island here on August 7. Tickets here.

So let's watch the video together, console each other if you're not going to tonight's gig either. But hey, if someone just miraculously somehow wanted to throw me a ticket to the show, I wouldn't say no.

Just tossin' that out there, mm'kay?

VV Brown Plays Bowery Ballroom Tonight; Will Launch Comic Book Series on May 7

Retro styled pop music and graphic novels. They go hand-in-hand, right? If you furiously shook your head no, then you're probably in the same "hmm, say what?" boat as I am. Thankfully, we've got a bit of info on the fantastic VV Brown, some upcoming live shows, as well as the debut of her new line of graphic novels and comic books.

First up, if you're not headed to Brown's show at Bowery Ballroom...well, you probably should be. Tickets are still available here, and the London lass puts on a great show, with a set of dynamic pipes to match. If you find yourself in another town in the near future, let's hope it's one of the 3 below.

May 10 - San Diego, CA - The Loft (UC San Diego)
May 12 - Los Angeles, CA - The Troubadour
July 10 - Minneapolis, MN - Basilica Block Party (Church Stage)

Now on to the more "randomer" part of this post. Yep, VV Brown is a huge fan of graphic novels and comic books and as a result of this passion, she has created her very own comic book series, titled City of Abacus, which is due to be published and released beginning May 7, 2010. Check out the cover here as well as an exclusive peek inside the pages of the series. I'm intrigued!
