Yolanda Be Cool and DCUP - We No Speak Americano (Chew Fu Rosetta Stone Fix)

Itss been too hot of a minute since I've thrown Chew Fu some love in a post all his own, and this fix-up is the perfect way to welcome him back with a ton of my words. While we're all getting ready to celebrate the most American of festivities this weekend, let's see what dudeman's got in store with a tune that's a little "no habla englais" and a whole lotta fun.

Yolanda Be Cool and DCUP's infectiously-rad number, We No Speak Americano, has been body rockin' this beast for quite a while now. Sure we super dig the song, but now that there's a Fu-specialty to back it up, there's no reason to not include this on every playlist. Ever.

Amping up the Balkan-inspired beat and making it even janutier than in its maiden form, Chewy grinds the bass and plays up all the intricacies of the original.

Y'all been bitten...by the Chew Fu bug. Now go dance!

Beastly Bits #90

In actuality, today's installment should be called "Beastly Bites". Why, you ask? Hung out with some cool kids on Friday night, but nor before getting bit by a dog in their office. Don't believe me? Proof steez. All good though...nothing but love for you...and a lawsuit pending. #jokes #jokes #noseriously #jokes

Here's a pun: sink your teeth into these bits. LOL, I kill me.

Daft Punk, Ian Brown, Noel Gallagher, Snoop Dogg, Ciara and David Beckham hang out at the Star Wars cantina for a new adidas Originals ad. link

Former Stereophonics drummer Stuart Cable, 40, was found dead earlier this morning. link

I played I Blame Coco's new single, Self Machine, on East Village Radio this past Friday. More on that later, but in the meantime, you can download Chew Fu's Robotix Fix of the jam below.

I think this is the first time I've been serviced an Ani DiFranco remix. It's awesome, it's courtesy of Voodoo Farm, and it's free below. Also, watch the video. link

Our pals at Hard Candy Music got video of Kylie Minogue previewing Aphrodite tracks at NYC's Splash. link

Beastly Bits #75

Holy hell it's finally Friday. This has been a long ol' week, but it's equally been chock full of awesome.

What's everyone up to this weekend? There's lots of cool happening in the city, so I expect to see each and every one of you out and about.

Kylie Minogue has a new song. Bit of a yawner for a supposed "comeback" single, but I guarantee after a few more listens, I'll be loving on All the Lovers. link

Tame Impala are streaming their entire album, Innerspeaker. Would be a wise move to go have a listen, because it's solid as stone. link

Mary J. Blige has been tapped to play Nina Simone in an upcoming biopic. link

The Rolling Stones' Keith Richards is set to release his autobiography in October. link

New tunes to grab this morning come courtesy of Gentleman Thieves, Chew Fu and Anton Glamb.

Be[a]st Remixes (Robyn, Example, Marina, etc...)

Shit shit shit (in the be[a]st way possible)...I cannot keep up. Shocker. While I've been paying close mind to compiling the heartiest and meatiest posts with a butt ton of info, sometimes the occasional "this post is simply to toss you a really great mix" piece gets thrown into the lot. And today, if each mixer and submission had his/her way, then I would never stop typing. Thus...compilation time.

First up...an exclusive debut for ya! Example's latest single, Kickstarts, is set to be released on June 13. With it comes mixes from Afrojacks, Bar9, Wideboys and Fenech-Soler, the latter of which we are 100% approving as the raddest and ready to get on your summer playlists.

mp3: Example - Kickstarts (Fenech-Soler Remix)

I may never post anything from Marina and the Diamonds again...because Clock Opera turns in one of the best fixes of anything you'll hear. Ever.

mp3: Marina and the Diamonds - I Am Not A Robot (Clock Opera Remix)

I'm still thoroughly enamored with Robyn's Dancing On My Own, along with the other tracks from Body Talk Pt 1 that found themselves out on the net. But if it's something slightly more mainstream dancefloor ready to get you grooving, then gobble up Chew Fu 's mix of the track. Oooh we like this one.

mp3: Robyn - Dancing On My Own (Chew Fu Remix)

Buddy boy Redlight just blew my mind. Matching up Oliver Twizt with Daft Punk and Aretha Franklin, his mix of Another Step is something that can easily can go on repeat. And it shall.

mp3: Oliver Twizt (featuring Daft Punk) - Another Step (Redlight Remix)

Finally, GonZo is back with another mix and mash of the funkiest notions. Rihanna, meet Jocelyn Brown. Beasts, start dancing.

Lady Gaga and Beyonce's Telephone Video: Scared Anything But Straight

If you're going to delay a video, hype it up so as to make it a multimedia affair across television and web portals and defy the status quo by essentially making it a near 10 minute mini-feature, then you'd best make good on the fact that this is THE video that sums up the ideation of young America, technology and the social commentary surrounding it. Let's ring up Lady Gaga, to see what exactly she has in store in her latest visual affair, Telephone.

The first and most notable theme throughout the mini-movie is the Tarantino-esque nod to campy cinematics, all much more in your face than Quentin normally goes. See, Gaga pulls directly from the famed director, in using the same typeface, witty banter and even the exact P*ssy Wagon from Kill Bill. Our recurring thought is WWQTS?

Aside from that, Gaga references her "manhood", shows off her equalled loves of near nudity and forward-thinking fashion, while completing every sequence with a wink, a smile, a click and a pop; actions that would make the cast of Looney Tunes green with envy. Frankly, the entire video plays out like a cartoon...a raunchy, sexually innuendoed and mass murderific cartoon.

Beyonce makes her cameo as Gaga's fidgety felonious friend, the "Clyde to the blonde's Bonnie", not the first time Bey's gone gangster (see: 2003's vid with beau, Jay-Z). And speaking of the criminally rad, one of our favorite scenes takes place in the prison yard, when Gaga's Paper Gangsta pumps over a crackling radio. (the song was mostly overlooked from the lady's debut, The Fame).

Aside from all we loved about the video (there wasn't much to hate to be quite honest), we circled back to see if in fact this played out as the social commentary Gaga intended it to be. There are moments, for instance, the blatant product placement. In a modern world where music videos have lost all significance and relevance, this embedded marketing ploy is inevitable, and the pop icon has embraced it. So yes, while some shudder at this advertactic, we applaud her for it.

Overall, if this is a "nod to the kind of country we are", then we'll allow it. But let's not make this more than what it really is at the very roots of it all...a perfectly-crafted pop video that champions the bad girl in all of us.

Dial up Lady Gaga and Beyonce's Telephone video below.

Beastly Bits #34

Forget my ramblings...there's tons to get into today...

In 3, 2, 1....let's go!

The enigmatic Iamamiwhoami videos were once rumored to be the handiwork of Little Boots. Brad, over at Muumuse, puts that to rest in his one-on-one with the English singer. Read their conversation here.

Nick Cave, Bobby Gillespie, Chrissie Hynde, Johnny Depp and Shane MacGowan form supergroup for Haiti track. Watch their take on I Put a Spell on You here.

Black Rebel Motorcycle Club will release Beat the Devil's Tattoo, the band's 6th studio album, on March 9th. They'll head out on an extensive 3-month tour in support of the offering. Dates here.

Our pal Chew Fu's latest fix sees him taking on the pop panache of School Gyrls and their sugary sweet treat, Something Like a Party. Grab the free song below.

It's been a while since we featured our buddy Don Diablo, so we've got his newest collaboration, Rise Up, with fellow Dutch producer Sidney Samson, as well as Diablo's March 2010 Live From Somewhere mix. Track below and the full set is over st SoundCloud.

Noah And The Whale - Love Of An Orchestra (Chew Fu Fix)

Big things poppin' in the land of Fu lately! In addition to remixing Rihanna's latest venture, Rated R, in its entirety (more details on the release of that whence we know), Chew Fu, our favorite serial-fixer, is back with a neat and gnarly mix of Noah and the Whale.

Love of an Orchestra, taken for NatW's latest album, The First Days of Spring, is, in and of itself, a tidy trek through choraled singing and sweet melodic measures.

So forget that bit of info, and enter Chew, with a grinding bass that gives the song a bit more cred, if you will.

I'm going to have this on repeat for a good dose of the morning...just a fair warning.
