Steed Lord - Don't Hurt Love

We'd previously always sometimes been a little on the fence about Steed Lord. At times, elements of their nu-disco-housier than thou flare shone through whilst other electrobanger qualities suppressed our urge to give them a rad heaping of support. Don't get us wrong, songs like You and It's What You Do 2 Me are great... and frankly, their feature on Crookers' Transilvania was the highlight of the Italian DJ's debut long player. But it's a new upcoming EP that's got us in the grip of the quivers, and oh yeah, it's great.

Cut to the summer of 2011 and we see Steed Lord cooking up some amazing disco house tunes with their upcoming Eddie House EP. The troupe went back to their house roots on this mini album of theirs and released the first track a few months back on their Soundcloud page, so yeah, we're late on this, but geeeebs Louise it's a dandy ditty.

Give your full attentive ears to Don't Hurt Love.

Summa smash!

Jessica 6 (ft Antony) - Prisoner of Love (new!)

Last month, we wrangled in NYC trio, Jessica 6, into the EVR studio on our weekly radio show, Belly of the Beast. (let's beat that fact over the head, as in, AHEM, you guys... it's Thursday, and the show is tonight at 8pm ET, so you should be listening right on ok thank you) Anyway, we dig them, and now they are offering up a new song, a free one if you will, from their forthcoming debut album, See the Light, which is due out June 7.

Prisoner Of Love [which] bridges electro and freestyle, featuring a soaring vocal melody that finds Nomi and guest vocalist Antony weaving their voices around each other to a stunning effect.

Those are some words from the press release.

Here are some from me: "I LIKE THIS A LOT". (and also ps: speaking of prisoners, and love, I was reminded of Colonel Abrams' Trapped... which talks about being in a cage, like a thieving bastard, and sounds nothing like this new song, but I really enjoy in this housey rework, and so you're getting that as well. pps: COFFEE RAMBLES!)

Moullinex and Xinobi - X Marks the Spot

It took them 8 hours from "Hey, let's hit the studio!" to "Track finished". There are no samples. It's Moullinex and Xinobi singing, laughing, whistling, playing bass, guitar, wine bottles and hippie percussions. Basically, doing what they do best... and churning out the new fun cut, X Marks the Spot.

We'd like to suggest you give this one a go.

Electro-house disco-pop throwback-heads rejoice...Melbourne's Miami Horror are releasing their debut album, Illlumination, on August 20 via Virgin. For the June Discovery party, the kiddos have teamed up with BBE Records to do an early and special listening/release party for Dimitri From Paris' new disco compilation, Get Down With The Philly Sound. The 2 CD set documents the birth of disco in Philadelphia and the work of the unsung musicians who played on the numerous hits that came from the scene, including: Harold Melvin & Blue Notes, Teddy Pendergrass, The Trammps, and The Jackson 5.

After the release party, Discovery will go into full gear with Codebreaker straight from Milwaukee. The midwestern disco producers known more for letting their bass guitar do the driving and less for their handclapping have decided to let the synths take over this time. Duck Sauce - Barbara Streisand (O-God Remix)

What's your favorite Barbra Streisand movie? Rather, what's your fave song by the legendary lady of voice? How's about we forget all that nonsense and move on to what your new obsession riddled tune of the rapidly-approaching summer months is going to be? Yeah!

Duck Sauce, the duo known properly as A-Trak and Armand Van Helden, follow up the success of aNYway with another dandy fine disco-tinged tune that's sure to make your knees buckle from the absurd amount of dancing it will initiate.

The original track Barbara Streisand is super plus, but if it's something a bit shiftier with an amped up pace and beat, then grab the O-God remix. For something a bit truer to the initial trek, g'wan'n'git the One Duran fix.

Either way, they've got this funny girl dancing. (puns on film names! or are you all to young to get that...)

Au Revoir Simone - Only You Can Make You Happy (PUNCHES Remix)

Earlier this month, we got introductorially down with PUNCHES, a BK troop of boys who we know from one realm, act, party or the like. Together, they've come together to smack us with a hit of drippy disco dancers and while we initially had to wait to drop this official mix, today we wait no more.

Want to know more about these cool cats? Here's their legit bio, aside from my beastly ramblings: PUNCHES was born during a cab ride one cold, Brooklyn December night, with thoughts of warm weather and the perfect summer soundtrack. Composed of twin brother DJ’s Finger on the Pulse, Alan Astor and The Kid Robb, PUNCHES is united by a common goal to get you moving. The sound is dynamic and fresh, heavily influenced by disco vibes with indie elements. They have produced original tracks featuring Alan Astor on vocals, as well as an official remix for indie pop sweethearts Au Revoir Simone. Based in Brooklyn, PUNCHES plan on setting the night ablaze in a club near you.

After getting some rad responses to their mixtape, Somebody Has to Help You, the lads finally let loose their remix of ARS's Only You Can Make You Happy. We love this fixed up jaunt...but think the title doesn't befit the mix any more. Not only YOU can make yourself happy...but this tune is pretty much guaranteed to make you feel great too.

Reminder: As if I've not obsessed enough about this, but April 24 sees the live debut of PUNCHES, with rad guests Xinobi, Moulinex, VDRK and our main man, Justin Faust! More details here.

Introducing: PUNCHES

4 Friends. 3 Tracks. 2 Lofts. 1 PUNCHES. 0 Regrets. This sounds like a barrel of disco-tinged dude fun and hell, I'm jumping on board this rad train immediately. PUNCHES, in essence, is an endeavor holding the likes of Alan Astor, Kid Robb and our favorite twin spinners, DJ Never Forget and Terry Diabolik of Finger on the Pulse-fame. There's simply no way this project can go wrong...this is all so right.

Back in the early stages of the year, we were given word that something was a'brewin' between these four pals, and alas, we're finally privy to give a listen and lovin' to the power of their productions.

While we can't quite yet give you their debut original track, Let Go, along with their slinky remix of Au Revoir Simone's Only You, we can drop a tidy treat on  you...in the form of a mixtape. (don't worry, the aforementioned tunes get tossed in this mix, so you'll get to whet your whistle)

Check out the full track list below, grab the mix for free...and mark your calendar for April 24, when PUNCHES debuts their live showing on a bill with Moulinex, Xinobi, Justin Faust and VDRK. Commence the sweat-fest now.
