Beastly Bits #54 - Part Two

There's just been so much good to get today, that I simply must do another round of the bits.

This is a first...and definitely not something that will be frequented. Just sporadically as I see fit.

Last week, The FADER debuted a new remix of Marina and the Diamond's I Am Not a Robot. On an aside, we were just serviced it, so therefore, we pay it forward. Fool's Gold, the lovable lads and lasses from LA give the track their rubdown, and it's yours for free below.

Kate Miller-Heidke is playing a FREE show at Living Room tomorrow at 3:00pm. I suggest preparing your best "oooh my doctor just called and can fit me in" sort of excuse if you find yourself at a day job at that time. I might be doing the same. More details on the gig here.

The Return of Rococo party is back! This Saturday, April 17 at teneleven, the wildest baroque bash since the guillotine came down will pop off...complete with themed music, burlesque, fire dancing, live art and more. Pics from the last party can be viewed here, and details on the event are at this link.

Simply put...this track rules. MoonRunners sample Daft Punk's Around the World and churn out a fresh new fix titled Feels Like Magic. Oh yes it sounds like it too. Yours, for free, below.

Florence + the Machine take on Mario Winans' I Don't Wanna Know. Tastes Like Caramel's got the goods...so go check it out here. Major swoon worthy!

Win a FADER/Southern Comfort Limited Edition 7" featuring MNDR and Os Mais Potentes

Over the past 4 years, our pals at The FADER have tossed out a number of exclusive limited edition 7-inchers, with some of the hottest up and coming artists you need to be spinning. In this, the 12th installment of the series with yummy bevco Southern Comfort, we can't urge you enough to [ahem] jump in and on board this rad A/B compilation fast enough, because our homegirl MNDR gets a vinyl nod, backed with a hot one from Os Mais Potentes.

If you've long been a native of Beastonia, then you know that we simply adore all things that MNDR throws at us. Whether she's getting fists pumping with tracks like C.L.U.B. or settling in with a slower slink like I Go Away, she's got a one-two punch of musical knowledge and showmanship that we just can't quit. On this 7", she grabs the A-side with Jump In  (Extended FADER Mix). (On a sidenote: if you've caught her live and heard her perform Caligula, you'll know it's easily a Beaston fave...but unfortunately, one we cannot share just yet. From miPod to God's ears...)

On the flip/B-side, Os Mais Potentes usher in the new sound of kuduro, as these Angolan natives keep a socially conscious wit about their highly energetic dance music. We dig the cut Yoyo, which, fittingly, is a cut that makes you want to shake it up and and break it down.

Ok, so that's the long of it. The short? You can stream, and download both of these tracks (signing up for the newsletter gets you the mp3s, but FADER is rad, and so is their news, so just do it), and while you're at it....leave a comment on THIS post and you might just get one of the 500 pressed copied of the release. Big ups!

Beastly Bits #22

Geaux Saints! Did you catch the Super Bowl last night? More importantly, did you watch The Who during the halftime spectacular. I've got my thoughts on how it all played out, which I was extremely verbal about during the presentation. No need to rehash, but you can scroll through my twittered-frustrations here if you must.

Now that the footballing is over, we're ready to focus on an extremely busy week, chock full of rad new music news.
