Win Tickets to See Freelance Whales at NYC's Webster Hall on December 15

Maybe it's the fact that Freelance Whales hail from Queens (Beaston borough representin'!), or even that they have that one song which they probably created in homage to our birth-given nomenclature, right? Most likely it's due to the notion that their songs are intrinsically unique and catchy, but yeah, here in the land a la the Beast, we simply can't get enough of 'em. And we'd like you to be obsessed with this troupe as well, so we're making it super easy for you and a pal to catch their live show this week.

Beastly Bits #56

This has been a pretty rad and busy week, but it's not been so crazy that I haven't noticed that I'm nearing on my 30,000th tweet. Is that a sickness? Yeah, it probably is.

Something that's not so disgusting? All these tasty morsels of music news. Mmmmm.

Scarlett Johansson and Sam Rockwell have been tipped to star in a long lost Kubrick film, Lunatic at Large. Frankly, I wouldn't mind hearing more music from her, but if you want the flick details, head here

Blondie announced a UK tour and I seriously debate heading 'cross the pond to check 'em out. Nah, I'll wait til any NYC dates may spring up. In the meantime, if you live in London, get your tickets here starting this Friday at noon.

Freelance Whales debut album, Weathervanes, came out yesterday and Spinner's got the full album streaming. Definitely give these Queens' boys a listen here.

Macy Gray will debut songs from her new album, The Sellout, at a free concert this Monday, April 19 at Webster Hall. The concert is free and open to anyone who brings at least one empty cosmetic package (any brand) to an Origins retail outlet in the NYC region. More info and locations here.

Scissor Sisters have a dark and funky new jam streaming on their site. Invisible Light is the closer on upcoming album, Night Work, and features vocals from Ian McKellan. What? Just go listen here, cause it's pretty rad.
