Marvin Gaye - I Want You (David Panda's Wanted Version)

I've been listening to this smooth fix for a better portion of the past 2 days. I will also, undoubtedly, be giving this some ear lovin' for many more moons to come. Get it in and have a rad weekend. That's all for now.

Cee-Lo Green - ChamPain (new song!)

Yes!  The velvet-voiced "closet freak" is dishing out more new tunes, and we say thank you sir, tip o' the cap, and plant a mighty *muah* on your hand.

ChamPain comes from Cee-Lo's Stray Bullets mixtape, which is a free full-length download, that you should get in your libraries, like prointo. Grab it here.

Additionally, I'm still super excited for The Lady Killler to finally see a release (sometime later this year), but in the meantime, you can view Green's video for No One's Gonna Love You, which is a cover of Band of Horses' original tune. Watch it!

Cee-Lo Green - Georgia (new song!)

Last month...no wait, today is June. So, back at the end of our 4th month, yes April, the wonderful Gilles Peterson debuted a new Cee-Lo Green track. (yep, he's going by the full moniker pending his "scheduled for late 2010" release, The Lady Killer). I Want You is a summery slice of awesomeness, but it's an even newer cut that's got me all sorts of excited to see what the Closet Freak has in store for the full length.

Georgia pays homage to Green's home state and it's like he took the best of the dark trippy bits of Gnarls Barkley and smoothed 'em under his signature tones.

We like this a lot and think you will too.

Mmm...horn sections.

J*Davey - Outta the Window (new video!)

Want to see some pre-Beastly gnarliness? Ok...one of the first artists I ever wrote and raved about was the super fly funk and soul of J*Davey...which brings us to this link from March of 2008. Look at that ol' nasty site layout! What defies the aesthetics, however, is the lasting power that this duo has had on me. With a new video for an exquisite track, we can forget about past embarrassments and simply revel in the rad.

Jdaveyvideo

This pair, known properly as Ms. Jack Davey and Brook D'Leau, are two of the most stylish and uniquely sexiest cats to stroll through our site. Having released a free mixtape/album last year, we've been given a glimpse into their sleek singsong world.

One cut from The Boudoir Synema: The Great Mistape (which you can still snag for the cost of nothing here) that we immediately crushed on was Outta the Window, a hand clapper of a sweet ride with a tight and tasty bass line and lyrics to match.

And now there's a video. And now we also demand that today be known as "funkalicious hump day". Yep, that'll do.

Janelle Monae - Tightrope (new video!)

Little known fact: Janelle Monae was probably somewhere between the 3rd to 7th artist I ever chose to feature back when I started the site. With a dose of Motown and a splash of other-worldly awesomeness, the Grammy-nominated singer has deservedly found herself a spot in Beastonia many a time before. And today, we roll on with our favorite ArchAndroid and her new video.

Janellemonae

Monae's debut EPs, which came in the shape and titles of various Metropolis: Chases, were a mix of futuristic retro radness, with the ever-stylish gal donning the moniker of Cindi Mayweather, the album's protagonistic maven.

Now, with the May 18 release of her freshman full-length, fittingly dubbed The Arch Android, Janelle jumps back in time to hit us with an outerspacey ride of a wild time. She's collaborated with Big Boi on lead single, Tightrope, and she's just released the visuals to the dancey feel-good vibes of the album cut.

Watch her get tip-toe-ingly terrific in the video below.

The Royal Reign of Sir Jack Splash

If there is one artist who completely embodies the term "renaissance man", it's the Miami-cum-LA producer/artist, Jack Splash. Long hot on the "Sir Jack tip" since hearing a few demos early last year, a proper sit-down with the dude who makes me hit play, and repeat, more often than not was a chance to get into the mind of a true millennial master.

Oft-compared to a hybrid lovechild of Prince and Outkast, Splash is not shy to show his passion and dedication to his impressive collection of works, most of which he's dished out for free in anticipation of his full length album, Technology and Love Might Save Us All. Let's dive in and, yep, make a splash with super cool and cordial dude.

SB:  Since we’ve been going back and forth on Twitter, I figured why not do a proper interview and help spread the word a little bit more?

JS: Cool, I really appreciate that. Your real name is Hannah?

SB: Yeah, it’s Hannah.  Sheena Beaston is just the name of the site, but I’ve answered to Sheena many times before, so whatever works is totally cool.

JS: That’s cool. That’s rock and roll, I dig it.

SB: Absolutely.  So where are you based at right now?

JS:  I’m in Miami right now.

SB: Oh, so you’re missing out on all the snow and the fun going on up here in the Northeast.

JS: Oh my goodness, I’m not a huge snow person anyways

SB: Dude, I am not either...I hate it! My office even shut down today.

JS: That’s madness. I don’t think I’ve ever been…I mean, I’ve been in the snow, but not in the middle of the city. You know what I mean?

SB: Yeah, exactly. It’s just a hassle to trudge through the city in these conditions so it’s kind of nice to  just stay home and watch movies all day, which is so out of the norm for me.

JS:  That’s the best time for some hot cocoa

Fare Soldi - Tutto, Tutti, Sempre, Subito (Justin Faust Remix)

If you think that song title is a mouthful, wait til you give an ear to the magical mix our pal, Justin Faust, throws down on it. Fare Soldi and their discofunk original get a wash of wavey wonderment, thanks to the mixer's marvelous mitts.

Faresoldifaust

Fare Soldi's original track, Tutto, Tutti, Sempre, Subito, can be found on the 2009 compilation, Italo School: Volume 1. If you're unfamiliar with the song, you can stream it here.

In typical Faust-fashion, we're treated to a staggering selection of hand-claps and punching beats, that only help to enhance a song we were already head over heels in love with. And if that's not enough radness for you, Fare Soldi hooked up the cool cats over at bigstereo with a 45-minute mix titled Dancing with the Monster 2, that's had me dancing in my office chair all morning long.

Jack Splash - King Of The Beats: Volume 1 (free mixtape!)

"Hey yo, Jack Splash...let's take 'em on some next level ish. Feel me? Let's go!" wisps Missy Elliott on the Beast-loved Jack Splash tune, I Could Have Loved You. While that song remains our staple "go-to-funk" jam, that quote deservedly earns a place in this post for all the right reasons.

Jacksplashkingofbeats

Today documents the release of Jack Splash's, King Of The Beats: Volume 1, the second of three mixtapes to be released before his much-anticipated full-length album AND film, Technology And Love Might Save Us All... out in May via J-Records.

In the past few months, Jack Splash has bombarded the music world with 90's throwback rap tracks and futuristic synth-pop hooks. King Of The Beats reminds us that Jack is capable of such songs, but also takes you further into his genius by revealing a number of instrumental tracks.

Each track has been carefully crafted and produced by the same hands that created music for such talented artists as T-Pain, Estelle, Shakira, Britney Spears and more. Truly, he is, the king of the beats.

Jack Splash (featuring Cee-Lo) - 38 Special

We've been singing the praises of funk-master, Jack Splash, for what seems like forever. Basically, he's jam-packed so much radness into our ears over the course of the past 6 months, that it feels like he's been kicking it with us in Beastonia since inception.

Jacksplashceelo

The new single from Jack Splash, 38 Special, features Cee-Lo. The cut comes from the upcoming King of The Beats Vol.1 mixtape album, which will drop, for free, on January 13.  As we've been reporting, these mixtapes are not the standard fare: all the beats and compositions are original. They are essentially mini-albums he has done leading up to his full length studio album that will debut in May via J Records.

Grab the track below. It's funky and free.
