Groove Armada - Look Me In The Eye Sister (new video and remix!)

Groove Armada's latest album, Black Light, sees the lads in a return to all roots that made me initially love them. Big beats, bassy tunes and vocals that float in and out of their stellar arrangements. Their new single, Look Me In The Eye Sister, is another prime example of the boys' finest efforts, and now, we've got some visuals. Say hey!

Holy miniatures and figurines! This is one tiny little concert I'd like to attend. Especially nice touch with the "fan cam" footage spliced throughout the clips of the small singers and song-makers hosting what seems to be the cutest concert ever.

Groove Armada's Look Me In The Eye Sister is out now. But it here.

Let's watch the video!

Fenech-Soler Playing Pianos NYC Tomorrow Night and New Remix!

Some of the biggest 2010 buzz belongs to the glam-psych rad rock of the UK's Fenech-Soler. After hooking up with Groove Armada, cranking out a handful of delicious demos and eventually their official singles, the Alan Braxe-discovered troupe is ready to take SXSW by storm...but not before they make their NYC debut on Monday March 15.

Fenech-Soler's debut single, Cult of Romance, was released via Braxe's Vulture Label in 2009, and Lies on Moda (UK) which won them plays with luminaries such as Annie Mac, Pete Tong, Eddie Temple Morris and collabos with Alex Metric and Tom Starr. As mentioned, the band recently collaborated with Groove Armada on their track Paper Romance and will be playing two west coast dates with the electro DJ duo right after SXSW.

If you're not Austin-bound this year, fear not. You can catch Fenech-Soler tomorrow night at Pianos. They go on at 11pm in the main showroom and you can read more on the event here. Also, stay tuned, because FS will be releasing their debut album later this summer!

And hey, we've got an exclusively sweet bonus for you. UK clubheads, ZX, threw us their remix of Fenech-Soler's track, L.A. Love, a 7+ minute grapple through all the killer bleeps and bloops that make us dig it oh so much. Yours, for free, below.

PS: Our pals at Too Many Sebastians just featured ZX today too. Win!

Win a Pair of Tickets to See Groove Armada!

On the heels of their wildly popular and extremely rad new release, Black Light (which is out everywhere now), Groove Armada are set to make a proper US invasion from mid to late March. If you haven't copped the album yet, get it here, then keep on reading for a chance to win tickets to their NYC show.

Black Light is GA's 6th studio album, and since first being laid in the ears of critics and bloggers alike, the response has been an overwhelming rush of positivity and pleasant hand claps. Considered by some to be their best and most cohesive offering to date, we can attest that Andy and Tom are on their grind with this release. From beginning to end, we give the electro synthpop album a big ol' beastly seal of approval.

With a tour of the States set beginning later this month (all dates here including a few European dates), you can guarantee we'll be in attendance at their March 24 Webster Hall show here in NYC. We want to see you there dancing alongside us too...so we're tossing out a pair of tickets to the gig! Info on how to enter below.

Want to hit the Groove Armada show with a friend? If you've frequented the contests here before, then you'll know we are cerifiably "twitter-crazy". So start by following us if you aren't already...winners get notified by DM, and the only way we can send you a beastly congratulatory message is if you're on board the beast train.

Next, simply copy and paste the below message and hit send in whatever tweeterrific application you use (we're partial to TweetDeck ourselves...)

yo @sheenabeaston, turn up the black lights, because i'm going to dance all night long with you at the @groovearmada show @websterhall

That's all you gotta do...easy peasy. Contest will remain open until 5pm on Friday March 19, so you've got two weeks to hit me with your tweets.

Beastly Bits #28

Today, we've got a mix of the new and the old...some long ago Beaston faves (pre-site) and some fresh goodies ready to rock your socks off. Can you handle it?

Shall we?

Gwen Stefani remarks that the new No Doubt album, due out later this year, is influenced by the "worst of the 80s", particularly one-hit wonders. This is intriguing, but more importantly, well anticipated, as it's been 9 years since they've put out an original album. More details here.

Last night, Salt-n-Pepa played a sold out show at Sydney's Enmore theater, which by all accounts, looked to be super rad. Watch a video of the chicness here.

Barbara, a three-piece electro-pop folk outfit from Los Angeles, covered Kid CuDi's Pursuit of Happiness, and yep, it's just as great as y ou think it could be. Listen close for an Iron and Wine sample, with extra hums from Sam Cooke. Beaston approved and yours for free below!

Sharon Jones and the Dap Kings announce a second NYC on their tour at the legendary Apollo Theater. Tickets for the May 1 show will be available here.

Groove Armada are playing Webster Hall on March 24, in support of their new album, Black Light, which sees a release next Tuesday. Tickets can be obtained here, and there's a free remix of their most rad track, Paper Romance, below.

Groove Armada - I Won't Kneel (Treasure Fingers Epicwave Edit)

Back in October, Groove Armada hit me with a dose of the "oh no, this song makes me feel feelings" medicine when their song, I Won't Kneel, first flew into my ears.

The original song, featuring the icily-nice vocals of SaintSaviour, is one that we won't soon quit. Nope, you can't make me! The only reason I'll turn it off is to switch it over to the just-released Epicwave Edit from Beaston-fave, Treasure Fingers. Jumpy disco beats and twinkling trinket and tid-bits supplement the gorgeous arrangement. If you thought you could still while listening to this mix, I'd beg you to change your tune immediately.

Get rad with a bonus cut from Groove Armada's upcoming album, Black Light (out March 2 via OM).
