Reflection Eternal (featuring Estelle) Midnight Hour (new video!)

Late last month, I brought news of Reflection Eternal, the collaborative project between Talib Kweli and Hi-Tek. Sleekly-styled and sophisticated, the pair's upcoming album, Revolutions Per Minute, is sure to bring a smile and a swagger to your summertime playlists.

Jumping into what seems like an Adobe Illustrated world, Talib, Tek, and their main gal Estelle, come together for the official video for first single, Midnight Hour. A retro romp of a rad time, the visuals are directed by Alexandre Moors, who's previously done work with The Crystal Method and Matisyahu.

Watch the clip below and if you'd like some behind the scenes footage, please direct yourself here. There are also a slew of mad tour dates for Reflection Eternal after the video.

Talib Kweli and DJ Chaps - Early Mourning Signs (free mixtape!)

Brooklyn native, Talib Kweli, has long been a mainstay of our super summer spins...meaning those tracks that we like to blast with the car windows down on hot August days. And while living in NYC has all but made vehicle ownership a moot point, his hot slices are easily as transferable to pumping through speakers while you jam out during a rooftop BBQ. C'mon...you know you've all done it before.

In anticipation of his and Hi-Tek's collaborative Reflection Eternal project, complete with a new album titled Revolutions Per Minute (due out May 18), the quick-lipped emcee joined forces with DJ Chaps to compile a pretty rad mixtape. Through Blacksmith Records, the pair just released Early Mourning Signs, 18 tracks of mixed, mashed, and mental wordsmithings.

The mixtape is available as a free download here, and you can cop the entire track list below. As a bonus, I'm tossing out one of my favorite cuts from the mix, as well as the first official single from Talib and Tek's forthcoming album: Midnight Hour features Estelle on vocals, and yum yum, it is tasty!
