Holy Ghost! are quickly emerging (as if they aren't already known and loved) as a staple favorite of every cool kids' summer time lovin'. With a bit of pop, a ton of disco, and all the know-how to make you groove and move, these DFA dudes are primed to takeover the remaining year's seasons...thanks to a tour that kicks off today, along with a brand new video for I Know, I Hear.
HG!'s North American tour begins tonight at Washington DC's 9:30 Club, with headliners Chromeo. They'll come back through NYC on July 29 at Bowery Ballroom and later this summer on September 4 at PS1. Next Wednesday, August 4, finds the boys taking up with Hot Chip and Hercules and Love Affair, for SummerStage.
Now, the video for I Know, I Hear, which features Caroline Polachek of Chairlift on backing vocals in the black and white clip.
After quite the lengthy post title as above, seems like there's really no need for more words to be spewn in praise of Monarchy and all that they've been up to as of late. However, I've been waiting for a good chock of days to finally get all the info needed here to properly write this up...so blam blam blam...and away we go!
Last week, as part of the Strangers in Stereo blog collective (which I'm amped to be a part of since its inception) and our weekly feature "Now Playing", Monarchy took my top spot for most played artist/song thanks to Love Get Out Of My Way, and its respective remixes, which will see an official release on August 30 (pre-order here). Mixes come from Sinden, Tim Goldsworthy, Holy Ghost!, Treasure Fingers and Benny Benassi. The TG Dub is free to download below and you can hear the Benny treatment here. Rest assure, the remaining fixes are equally awesome, but being the obedient (and selfish) beast that I am, both cannot and will not post.
Additionally, the official video for LGOOMY has been released. Watch it below. But then don't stray too far, cause I'm writing more stuff, so yeah...pay attention, please and thank you.
Before letting you run off and dance to their killer cuts, a most beastly piece of news action from the Monarchy mates needs to be dropped. On Saturday, June 19, the lads held their debut live show, at the Kennedy Space Center, in Cape Canaveral, FL. The performance came in front of roughly twenty people, and was also the first live show to be broadcast into space. Neato!
You can watch a mini-documentary from the event below.
If you can't tell, I'm just a LITTLE bit excited for what these dudes have in store. Yep.
MoMA PS1's historic Warm Up music series begins July 3 and will take place every Saturday through September 4. This highly anticipated outdoor series celebrates its twelfth year of exposing audiences to the best in experimental music and live bands, performances, and DJs.

And now, for your enjoyment...the shortest post ever.
Simply because when I posted this earlier this week, it was a shoddy radio rip. Time to get funky proper with the leading candidate for remix of the year. Monarchy's Love Get Out of My Way will be released on July 26.
This has shaped up to be one of the funkiest, most disco-danced out bills the early moments of the summer has seen thus far. With a trio of NYC troupes anchored by the skills of an LA comrade, Manhattan's stealth lil' spot in Chinatown is ready to get crazy when Dance Right takes over for a night of sweaty sexy fun-times.
The legendary LA party, Dance Right, is back! Last month, the kids of MeanRed brought their Cali flavor to NYC and got sweaty with A-Trak and Shepard Fairey (check out some pics here). On Saturday, June 12, they’re doing it again with Holy Ghost!, Classixx, PUNCHES and Jessica 6.
The last party sold out, so make sure you get advanced tickets...or enter to win a pair of 'em for you and a beastly buddy!
Want to win the tickets to this sweet gig? If you've frequented the contests here before, then you'll know we are cerifiably "twitter-crazy". So start by following us if you aren't already...winners get notified by DM, and the only way we can send you a beastly congratulatory message is if you're on board our tweetable train.
Next, simply copy and paste the below message and hit send in whatever tweeterrific application you use (we're partial to TweetDeck ourselves...)
yo @sheenabeaston, i want to dance right and dance all night with @holyghostnyc, @classixx, @punchesbk and jessica 6!
That's all you gotta do...easy peasy. Contest will remain open until 5pm on Wednesday, June 9, so hit me with your tweets now. Go!
Disco droolers beware...there's a new reason to salivate and it's all thanks to the new Monarchy single, as twisted and tossed up by NYC troupe, Holy Ghost!. Love Get Out Of My Way, in this version, is dripping in dance floor prevalent dulcets...with enough up and down toe-tapping radness to make your foray back into the post-holiday work week so much more enjoyable.
Here's the thing...aside from wanting to hear the original like whoa (the track will be out later this month), we got all sorts of giddy and privy to hearing this fix, thanks to the ever fantastic Annie Mac. She dropped this spectacular slice on her Friday radio show and hot damn we've got the recording.
So please make note: there's a bit of the Mac mouth for the first few seconds. Also note: holy radass this is badass.
Someone made a video too. Hearts afire, this is pretty cool.
This summer, Chromeo will hit the road with the equally disco-funky outfit Holy Ghost! for a 23-date string of shows. This run, presented by Green Label Sound, leads up to the release of the duo's highly anticipated third studio album, Business Casual(out August 17 via Atlantic Records).
The tour kicks off Monday July 26 in Washington, DC, following their special joint performance with Daryl Hall at this year's Bonnaroo Music Festival on June 11. Chromeo will also make their second Lollapalooza appearance on August 6 in Chicago.

Typically we like to save our "exclamation points" until the end of a post title...to conjure up how stoked we are about what is new, what we just saw, and the like. But in the case of Holy Ghost!, the punctuation comes sooner than later, and hell, we're A-OK with that because it's almost like we're telling you how freaking psyched we were to be at their live band debut this past Saturday, May 15, without getting to the end of the sentence. Yep...so excited!
We've been fans of HG! for, hell we'll say it, going on three years or so now. And generally speaking, we'd only caught them live in a strict DJ setting, where their concoction of dancey disco-pop and rock always left us drenched in sweat and with a super big smile slapped on our faces.
Enter Saturday night at Tribeca's Under 100...a basement space worthy of hosting exactly that number of people. With over double that figure crammed into the dark room, boys, girls, label mates and beasts alike all gathered for the New Yorkers' live band debut. Beginning just after midnight, the sweaty and sardine-like crowd were treated to the band's opening chords...full of lush and plush sounds that had everyone dancing through the rub ups and downs of the tight quarters.
Running the gamut of songs you've all heard and loved, like Hold On, Say My Name and Static on the Wire, Holy Ghost! were backed on vocals by Chris Glover (Penguin Prison) before being joined by Chairlift's Caroline Polachek for the finale, I Know I Hear.
Buy Holy Ghost!'s Static on the Wire EPhere tomorrow. Full set of pictures from the show can be found here. Video of It's Not Over below as well.
