I Blame Coco: Third Official Single Release Date and Debut Album News

One of 2010’s undisputed rising stars is I Blame Coco, thanks to a festival season full of storming slots at the Isle of Wight, Glastonbury, Wireless, Latitude and Secret Garden Party. She's still got Bestival to go, after which she'll round out the summer with the release of her new single, Quicker, which comes from her debut album, The Constant, due out October 4.

Meshing Coco’s varied musical influences perfectly and pulsing with the vintage urgency of the Hacienda dancefloor, the innovative hard-edged disco hit, Quicker, more than explains why I Blame Coco is one of this year’s most unique new acts. At 19 years old, Sumner’s lyrics, vocals and multi-stranded sonic explorations hint at a kind of emotional maturity and depth which outclasses her contemporaries. Produced by one half of the acclaimed Wild Geese Dan Foat, alongside his production partner Nathan Boddy, Quicker comes with a host of hi-octane remixes from Rack & Ruin, Brad Holland and Milk and Sugar. Following on from the acclaimed singles Caesar and Selfmachine, as well as the limited edition version of Neil Young/St Etienne’s Only Love Can Break Your Heart, the single looks set to follow Coco’s previous releases into the hearts and minds of the tasteful pop fans. The single will be released in the UK on September 27 via Island, with her debut album, The Constant, set for a proper outing on October 4.

Sample the single and mixes after you glance through the album's track list. Here's the art, too.

I Blame Coco - Self Machine (new video!)

Enamored, enraptured, enhtusiastic...shall we go on? These are the things I feel when listening to the smoky tones pouring forth from I Blame Coco. Ever since first catching wind of her last year, I've been on a mission to get as much of her music in my ears as possible. She's the daughter of Sting, she's worked with Robyn and Teddybears, and basically, she should just be my pal and we'll high five each other and be rad beasts every day. Oh, and she's got a new video. Commence the awesome.

Self Machine is a song you can fall in love with upon first listen. In an odd twist, I'd heard La Roux's remix of the track prior to the original, and that's what set my swoon-fest for the song in motion. It was lush, quiet, soft and introspective, then out burst the official single, and POW! it's an up-tempo winner with a driving beat and a terrific acrobatic arrangement.

The newly-released video for Self Machine can be viewed below. The single comes out July 12 with remixes from the aforementioned redhead and Sub Focus. Pre-orders taken here.

Loving all of it...all of it...all of it.

Beastly Bits #90

In actuality, today's installment should be called "Beastly Bites". Why, you ask? Hung out with some cool kids on Friday night, but nor before getting bit by a dog in their office. Don't believe me? Proof steez. All good though...nothing but love for you...and a lawsuit pending. #jokes #jokes #noseriously #jokes

Here's a pun: sink your teeth into these bits. LOL, I kill me.

I played I Blame Coco's new single, Self Machine, on East Village Radio this past Friday. More on that later, but in the meantime, you can download Chew Fu's Robotix Fix of the jam below.

I think this is the first time I've been serviced an Ani DiFranco remix. It's awesome, it's courtesy of Voodoo Farm, and it's free below. Also, watch the video. link

I Blame Coco - Self Machine (La Roux Remix)

Just a little something to kick your weekend off on the right (and left, and hopefully dancing) foot! Here in Beastonia, we love I Blame Coco. We also are die-hard Annie Mac fans. So in tuning to the iconic UK DJ and radio-show host's Friday program earlier today, we got all abuzz when she premiered this tune.

Here's what you need to know. I Blame Coco's new single is called Self Machine. It is awesome and you can stream a bit of the original here.

La Roux has remixed the song and taken it from dancier to dreamier and it's been on repeat here for most of our afternoon. Perfect summer sidewalker!

Yep, it's a rip. Deal...you'll still love it.

We're just going to burn through this one super quickly like whoa...if there are no complaints, then let's wage and rage.
