Sleigh Bells x Soulja Boy - Donk Rhythm (Immuzikation Blend)

After dropping an Immuzikation track on the radio last week, our buddy boy pal from Athens, GA sent us over a new blend of his to dole out to all you lovely lil' beasts and brats. It's like a cross-coastal high five in the raddest way possible.

Mashing and mixing up two pretty opposite genres, but then when you think about it, somehow it just makes sense, the noise rock hip-hop backed Sleigh Bells, dude man takes the Brooklyn duo on a musical play date with the eccentricities of Soulja Boy.

Party jam right here, right now, when Riot Rhythm goes all Donk and what not.

Grab it...blast it...love it.

Strangers in Stereo SXSW Party - March 20

Over the past few weeks, I've been dropping a few hints about this odd enigma known as "strangers". Strangers in Stereo, to be exact. A worldwide collective of song lovers, 20 like-minded and super rad kids (this beast included), came together with to create a music portal of massive proportions. And now, to celebrate the launch of the site (which just happened last night!), a proper party is in order. And what better time to come together than in Austin at SXSW.

Make sure you return to the SiS site for continued content, but if you find yourself down in Texas, then swing by our gnarly party. Also, check out the Strangers No More introductory mix here, which our buddy, Immuzikation, put together using tracks selected by each individual blog/blogger.

Beastly Bits #25

Pow pow, it's Friday! And to top it off, most of us [in the big people grown-up world] have a 3-day weekend, with Monday off to celebrate some dead President's. Thanks for your service, dudes.

You know what else? I can service you with some cool music news. Onward, shall we?

The Bell House is hosting a night dubbed, Troop Beverly Hills: The Experience, this Tuesday February 16. Love Shelley Long? Love Jenny Lewis in a featured role? Then grab a ticket here!

If you're not going to the Ed Banger party tonight at Terminal 5, featuring your favorite French DJ's, Justice, then swing by Webster Hall later on for the after party. Basically, the entire label will be in attendance...with what is being billed as hosting "special guest DJs". Go figure. Details here.

The White Stripes will be premiering footage of their song, Dead Leaves And The Dirty Ground, from the band’s 10th Anniversary show over on Spinner today. Go there at 11am to catch the debut!

Immuzikation dropped by last night with a rad blend in an awesome Sweden vs France mix. Check out One Thousand Nineteen Hundred and One Folks for free below, which pits Phoenix against Peter, Bjorn and John.

The latest Bacardi B-Live mix comes in the form of Edu K's Flutesnoot (Mixhell's B-Live Mix). I'd be lying if I said this tune wasn't anything but massive, and also if it wasn't free. The truth is yours below.

Collective Efforts and Passion Pit - Sleepydream (Immuzikation Mix)

Let's say a hearty 2010 hello to Immuzikation! Back with a fistful of fiery power, the Athens, GA-based bro has more side projects and major collaborations that you can shake a stick at...and I'm here to simply act as a filtering tool to let you in on all the radness that he releases.

Last year, I swore off posting any Passion Pit mixes...the blogosphere simply became inundated with a plethora of "meh-not-so-good" mixes, yet they still found a rise to the top of playlists and DJ sets. Today, we spin a different yarn.

In a genre oversaturated with thugs, goons and auto-tune, Collective Efforts is trying to keep it true to their own style. Over the past five years, the CE Crew has made it’s mark on the Atlanta music scene and beyond by continuously delivering timeless classics for listeners thirsty for something different. Influenced by golden-era hip hop, jazz, 70s soul, reggae, funk and rock, each member brings something unique to the table that sets them apart from your average rap group. Enter Immuzikation. Here's what Collective Efforts has to say about the track you're about to love. Our friend, incredible DJ and musical genius Alfredo Lapuz, Jr., better known in the musical community as Immuzikation, blessed us with this incredible mash-up of The Dream (a track from the upcoming album featuring ATL’s own Senor Kaos) and Sleepyhead by indie giants Passion Pit. When I first opened this and heard it, it blew my mind. He does a great job of channeling an entirely different musical genre while somehow still keeping it true to the original version. A perfect blend! Have to say, I agree with all of those lovely words above. The smash is all yours below. Dividerline
