Beastly Bits #108

108 is great! After the most shittiest of shitshow weeks, I got home last night to find an unmarked, no-return address envelope with a slightly heavier than normal package inside.

Someone mailed back my stolen wallet! A bit of faith is restored in humankind...and a ton of bits are below in return. (Plus it's an "early dismissal" work day and Monday is observed for the holiday...so we don't gotta come back to work for what seems like forever. Amazing.)

Tonight is Famous Friends' FREE Summer Funhouse, with Treasure Fingers, Nick Cathcdubs, VDRK and OCD Automatic. GO! link

Beastly Bits #60

We've hit the 6 decade mark of the bits, and we still feel like a young'n. Sure it's soooo exhausting listening to all this great new music, so we really should feel like your old granny, but hey, we power through.

Kidding. It's not tiring. I love everything about this.

Janelle Monae - Tightrope (new video!)

Little known fact: Janelle Monae was probably somewhere between the 3rd to 7th artist I ever chose to feature back when I started the site. With a dose of Motown and a splash of other-worldly awesomeness, the Grammy-nominated singer has deservedly found herself a spot in Beastonia many a time before. And today, we roll on with our favorite ArchAndroid and her new video.

Monae's debut EPs, which came in the shape and titles of various Metropolis: Chases, were a mix of futuristic retro radness, with the ever-stylish gal donning the moniker of Cindi Mayweather, the album's protagonistic maven.

Now, with the May 18 release of her freshman full-length, fittingly dubbed The Arch Android, Janelle jumps back in time to hit us with an outerspacey ride of a wild time. She's collaborated with Big Boi on lead single, Tightrope, and she's just released the visuals to the dancey feel-good vibes of the album cut.

Watch her get tip-toe-ingly terrific in the video below.
