Kid Sister - Kiss Kiss Kiss (free mixtape!)

You know, last year, we were really jazzed on Kid Sister's debut album, Ultraviolet, and while it hasn't gotten a lot of Beastonic play in recent months, we can however, switch gears, and get 'eared up on a new mixtape that she's dropped for free. Oh, you go, grrrrrll.

Recap: The Fool's Gold and Jelly Pool Party Was, In Fact, Not The Last One

And damn it, I'm psyched as psyched can be that we've got one more week to revel in the radness that is this summer's Jelly Pool Party events, down at the Williamsburg Waterfront. After major OSA vs Jelly eFisticuffs went down, I awakened this past Sunday morning to news that next week's Delorean and Dominique Young Unique-featuring event is back on. Hooray! But before we get too far ahead, let's take a lil' looksy at the weekend that was: rain, rum, record labels and all.

Fool's Gold had the distinguishing honor of curating the day's lineup, and what better way to do so than with a ton of their friends and, literally, family. Chromeo (half made of the other brother Macklovitch, he who heads up the label...A-Trak), Kid Sister (A's girl), The Suzan and Telephoned rounded out the bill, with deck destroyer Kingdom offering up the in-betwixt set spins.

The rain delayed everything just a smidge, but the warm confines of the All Saints Pub once again proved a proper breeding ground for afternoon shenanigans, high fives, hollering at hot contingents, and giving us good reason to smile and toss 'em back in anticipation of next week's sayonara soiree. Also, we know who that TBA guest is. You're probably going to want to be in attendance.

Full set of pictures from this past Sunday's Pool Party can be viewed here. And yeah, they're all from behind and/or in All Saints cause I didnt feel like getting dropped on with precipitation. Baby Beast.

Kid Sister: Repping Bud Light Lime and She's One of the "TBA" Artists for The Pool Parties

'Tis true! And I have no video evidence to prove the first half of this mystery-revealing post. Stellar reporting here, really. But I can offer this piece of proof that occurred during last evening's television time in Beastonia. Also, her producer confirmed it here, so facts are facts: Santigold's Lights Out has FINALLY been ousted by Kid Sister's Daydreaming as the official song to soundtrack the national campaign for Bud Light Lime. Love both you ladies...still hate the beer.

Naturally, once video is uploaded from somewheres, I'll re-visit this post and freshen it up with the clip.

Now for the second piece of information: when Jelly announced their Pool Parties lineup, a number of TBA acts filled the bills. Doing some Sherlock-spyglass-detective work centering around the August 22 event, we can conclude that KS will be performing at the Williamsburg Waterfront. How so?

As of now, the lineup for that date still reads as: Chromeo, TBA, The Suzan, Telephoned. Now if you you go to Sis' site, scroll down to "tour dates", and yep, she's on the docket. Super sleuthy, eh? FYI, she's also pals with all those artists, so it was kind of an obvious TBA mystery. Ta-dah!

Kid Sister and Nina Sky - Look Out Weekend

It's a new summa jam for you to bump and jump to! Thanks to the lovely tones of Chicago's Kid Sister and the Queens-bred twins of Nina Sky, the title of the track says it all, and yep, I'm now 100% ready for the weekend to begin. Any thoughts of being productive at work today have sufficiently flown the nest. Enter the fist [pumps].

Jumping on a track together seems like somewhat of a no-brainer. All three ladies have a distinct sound and style, yet they are highly complementary of one another. With the sassy street style of KS matching wits with the NS duo's house-cum-hip-hop vibe, Look Out Weekend quickly hits the apex of our "we don't wanna be at work no more" and "I've got the itch to ditch" playlists.

It should be noted that one, this is a remake of Debbie Deb's original tune, Lookout Weekend, and two, this collaboration is featured on the Jersey Shore soundtrack (pre-order here), making this song the best by-product of the reality series, second only to the goddess that is Snooki.

Maybe they can enlist her for a track on the second season's soundtrack? One can dream. Til then, grab this jawn now!

Kid Sister - More Than Words (Extreme Cover)

In their weekly mashup Monday web series, Billboard teams up with Chicago gal, Kid Sister, for this week's installment of a rad homage to a 1990 acoustic ballad. She's known as a quick-lipped femcee, but beware, cause Melissa is about to wow you with her crooning vocals on this one.

Pairing up with her pal, accessories/jewelry designer Kerin Rose, on backing vocals, Kid Sis's voice soars through an "even more stripped down than the original" take on Extreme's popular hit, More Than Words.

Back in December, I chatted with KS and had asked her what her dream duet would be...to which she quickly responded that this, in fact, would be the one she'd want to tackle. While she doesn't grab Gary and Nuno to aid in the performance, she chats with Billboard about her love of the track and why she chose to sing it.

Watch the video below then grab the acoustic cover after that. We dig it.

Kid Sister - Daydreaming (new video!)

Oooh wee...we're back in full swing now that SXSW is over, and what better way to kick off our return than with a new video from Kid Sister! Fittingly, she's just released the visuals for next single, Daydreaming, which is 100% the state of mind we're rolling around in right now.

Daydreaming is the 2nd official single from her debut album, Ultraviolet. It's a fresh and summery rub of a rad track that features vocals from Cee-Lo. We've already featured a number of the remixes of the tune, but you can jump further below for a stream of the the Helsinki 78-82 mix which is making us smile...a lot.

The newly-out visuals showcase a strolling Sister while she glances at ice cream eaters, works in a donut shop and has a ton of bubbly thoughts. Basically, it's everything we want to be doing right now. Hence the term, daydreaming.

Watch now.
