Towards the end of last year, I was introduced to Kiss In Cities and Performance, a pair of Manchester bands that not only share band members, but also a penchant for making a perfect blend of dismally-exciting pop music.
Fronted by internationally-published novelist Joe Stretch, Performance are pleased to announce a new track. The Livingcaptures the ecstasy and misery of brilliant English pop. On the surface it’s a glittering, joyous rush of a song, but lyrically it’s dark and ominous. Unsurprisingly, Performance are a band with issues. They have overcome things that would have broken a lesser band - drugs, depression, disease, losing a band member, major label politics - but Performance never quit, they just got better.
And what's more? Joe has also produced on the upcoming HURTS album (yes!) while the other two members keep the 80's love child, Kiss In Cities, alive.
The Living will be released on April 26. In the meantime, here's the super rad black vs white video!
