Chromeo (featuring Elly Jackson) - Hot Mess (Duck Sauce Remix)

So what's that Duck Sauce remix of Chromeo and Elly's Hot Mess sound like then?

La Roux - In For the Kill (Dragon King Remix)

La Roux was nominated for a Grammy (whoa?) and Dragon King remixed the nommed song, In For the Kill, a la spaghetti western style radness. Color me crazy, but I like this version way more than the original.

Chromeo (ft La Roux) - Hot Mess (12" Mix)

This is not the radio rip. I repeat, NOT the radio rip.

Also, I am 100% obsessed with Chromeo's Hot Mess re-do right now and I don't even like La Roux all that much. So good on you boys and Elly. I will be listening to this and only this for the rest of the week.

La Roux - Under My Thumb (The Rolling Stones Cover)

In case you were unaware, La Roux are prepping a mixtape called Sidetracked, that will be available via cd and digitally on July 26 (in the UK). This is part of Renaissance's series, in which Andy Butler of Hercules & Love Affair compiled the first effort.

As the two electro-heads note:

“Me and Ben (Langmaid) enjoyed putting this mix together. It’s a really nice snapshot of both our musical influences. A lot of the tracks on here are songs we listened to while making our album set alongside some new stuff we’re into…”

I Blame Coco - Self Machine (new video!)

Enamored, enraptured, enhtusiastic...shall we go on? These are the things I feel when listening to the smoky tones pouring forth from I Blame Coco. Ever since first catching wind of her last year, I've been on a mission to get as much of her music in my ears as possible. She's the daughter of Sting, she's worked with Robyn and Teddybears, and basically, she should just be my pal and we'll high five each other and be rad beasts every day. Oh, and she's got a new video. Commence the awesome.

Self Machine is a song you can fall in love with upon first listen. In an odd twist, I'd heard La Roux's remix of the track prior to the original, and that's what set my swoon-fest for the song in motion. It was lush, quiet, soft and introspective, then out burst the official single, and POW! it's an up-tempo winner with a driving beat and a terrific acrobatic arrangement.

The newly-released video for Self Machine can be viewed below. The single comes out July 12 with remixes from the aforementioned redhead and Sub Focus. Pre-orders taken here.

Loving all of it...all of it...all of it.

Be[a]st Covers (Kelis, Shakira and Melanie Fiona)

Oh yum, yum, yum. While it's just about lunchtime here in Beastonia, we thought it fitting to dish out some tasty treats to all of you as well. Grab a plate and fork, and let's gobble up some goodies.

Shakira re-invisions The xx's Islands. Her take is called Explore, and she fiddles with her own lyrics, but the melody remains the same. Nothing but love for ol' Shaki in the minute long preview clip.

Kelis doing La Roux's In For the Kill? Yes, please and thank you. Almost kind of wish this was her song to begin with, because her husky vocals fit this acoustic version like a glove. Then again, maybe its because I'm also in a major love-fest with her new album, Flesh Tone. Read TLC Blog's review of the album here.

In Billboard's latest musical mashup series, Melanie Fiona tackles Sam Cooke's Cupid. Get ready for some super smooth sounds, from her mouth to your ears.

I Blame Coco - Self Machine (La Roux Remix)

Just a little something to kick your weekend off on the right (and left, and hopefully dancing) foot! Here in Beastonia, we love I Blame Coco. We also are die-hard Annie Mac fans. So in tuning to the iconic UK DJ and radio-show host's Friday program earlier today, we got all abuzz when she premiered this tune.

Here's what you need to know. I Blame Coco's new single is called Self Machine. It is awesome and you can stream a bit of the original here.

La Roux has remixed the song and taken it from dancier to dreamier and it's been on repeat here for most of our afternoon. Perfect summer sidewalker!

Yep, it's a rip. Deal...you'll still love it.

The Prodigy have been announced to headline Bestival on September 12. The English electronica outfit will close out the fest with what they are calling "their last performance for a while". Get a ticket here.
