Local Natives - Who Knows (Brainbheats Remix)

After a slow start to the day (thanks to malfunctioning hardware, software and all sorts of friggin' malware), I like "where" we're heading. Brainbheats has been floating around my ears for a short time now, thanks to mixes of Outkast, Cults, and his own original material.

Up in the queue now, we've go this understatedly-awesome fix-up of Local Natives' Who Knows.

I make demands, not requests. Henceforth, you must grab this now.

* FYI: today's posts will all be this short, yet not lacking on quality tunes. Computer troubz make me ragey.

Local Natives - Airplanes (live on Craig Ferguson!)

I couldn't be kicking myself harder for not snagging a ticket to Local Natives' sold out shows at Bowery Ballroom last night and again this evening. After repeated listens of their brilliant album, Gorilla Manor, and then catching them at SXSW this year, I've become the biggest "Native-ite"...prompting friends to give a go at them with any opportune moment.

Thankfully, last night the LA boys dropped by, in pre-recorded fashion, the Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson. Performing their song, Airplanes, this is as good as we'll get to seeing them live, until they hit The Beach at Governor's Island here on August 7. Tickets here.

So let's watch the video together, console each other if you're not going to tonight's gig either. But hey, if someone just miraculously somehow wanted to throw me a ticket to the show, I wouldn't say no.

Just tossin' that out there, mm'kay?

Beastly Bits #51

Do you ever wake up from a dream and you find yourself singing a song as you arise? It's been happening a lot to me lately, and there are no complaints. So when we do wake up, we like to share what's got us night grooving.

And of course, all the tunes that are making us move during the day.

Local Natives announced a summer NYC show on Governor's Island. Perfect, in case you missed snagging a ticket for their upcoming sold-out Bowery Ballroom gig in a month. Tickets for the August 7 show go on sale this Friday April 9 here.

Snoop Dogg and Cypress Hill sit down and interview each other in the new MySpace feature, Artist on Artist. Check it out here.

Kelis hit up the Jimmy Kimmel Show last night and rocked the crowd with a live performance of Acapella. Watch the clip at this link.

A new Mr. Vega track hit us like a ton of the raddest bricks ever. Forgoing his signature sound, our pal pumps up the disco beat and has us making moves in the office this morning. Download I'm Crazy Baby for free below.

Local Natives at Levi's FADER Fort (and OYA Festival News!)

Filled with a heavy dose of summerpop and modern rock, Los Angeles' Local Natives set foot under the Levi's FADER Fort for a midday set on Thursday, March 18, with a completely filled crowd lot already to listen to the tunes set forth by the Frenchkiss Records labelmates.

With the release of their debut album, Gorilla Manor, in February of this year (it let out in the UK last November), Local Natives have already built a staunch fan-base, thanks to performances at the Austin festival last year. Their initial album offering has received a multitude of critical praise, from major media writers and bloggers alike, thine own self included.

What I grossly underestimated, however, was the raucous reception that each song received once completed. Having spent most of my SXSW time in the Fort, I can easily, and without a shed of doubt, note that Local Natives garnered the loudest and warmest rounds of applause, second only to fourth night closers, Bone Thugs-n-Harmony.

The claps and cheers came 100% warranted as they powered through many album cuts, including fan favorites Sun Hands and Airplanes. Consider me an even bigger fan after this spectacular showing! (full set of pictures can be viewed here)

Local Natives have just been added to the August OYA Festival in Oslo, Norway. More information here.
