Metric - Gold Guns Girls (new video!)

Late last month, Metric released Gold Guns Girls as their current UK single. Coming off their stellar 2009 album, Fantasies, the track was backed with the B-side of the Adam Freeland's remix of Sick Muse. (buy the single here) Long awaited visuals for the title track of this latest effort are now upon us too. Let's get it on!

 

 

Produced by the band, along with Eady Brothers, Metric's latest foray into music video world goes all black and white with a frenetic run through snow-riddled streets. The contrasting visuals pair neatly with the lightning charges that the Canadian four-piece have molded on the song. Emily Haines’ seductive and distinguished vocals on the track, as accompanied by James Shaw’s explosive guitar riffs, create a perfect hook-driven one-two punch.

 

Metric are playing Terminal 5 this Sunday, May 16, with opener, Bear in Heaven. The show is sold out, so go toss a wish on the Craigslist if you want to get in to the show.

CJ Milli x Justin Bieber - Baby (Mixed and Mashed)

Stop it. Just stop right there. Maybe, at one point, who knows cause it's all hazy now, I swore to never really give an ear to Justin Bieber. But then our gal CJ Milli had to go and throw us not one, but TWO equally kickass mashed up mixes of his chart topper, Baby. Just hush it and listen.

 

 

One thing that I dig about CJ is that she and I share a love of cheesy pop songs. She's already once provided us with a mix that involved Mandy Moore's debut single, Candy (listen here), and the pair of us have often talked about her doing some sort of mix and mash that includes O-Town's Liquid Dreams. Seriously, if anyone has the instrumental or acapella for that jam, please send here.

 

So to get an email from her this afternoon with a pair of the Bieb-mixes really isn't all that much of a surprise. What may stun you, however, is how listenable each are. The first tosses MSTRKRFT's Heartbreaker with the pop tune, while the latter goes disco-delish with DVAS' Inner Sectum.

 

Grab 'em both, because you know you want to be that kid at a house party who thinks they're cool enough to shock your guests and take this shaggy-haired Canadian pop doll for a spin. And guess what? You will be.

Juliette Lewis - Uh Huh (new video!)

Last year we swooned to the high heavens, in praise of Juliette Lewis' album, Terra Incognita. Thanks to the guiding and producing hand of The Mars Volta's Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, the disc was a cohesive effort, blending pure rock animalistics with a back to nature base.

 

While it's been, well, a while since we've writ anything about Ms. Lewis (she's been busy touring, see...), today, she unveiled the video for Uh Huh, which shows off a softer vocal side to the naturally hard rockin' woman.

The clip is directed by Lightfield Lewis, and yep, that's Juliette's brother. 

Watch the video for Uh Huh, which, in addition to NYC's warm streak, makes us only long that much harder for the loving embrace of the Spring/Summer season.
