The Hundred in the Hands' Self-Titled Debut Album is Out Today via Warp

And I approve of every word in that phrase...because, well, The Hundred in the Hands are one of beastliest more favoritest bands to emerge over the past year, and yeah if it seems like I'm making up words to describe how I feel about Eleanore and Jason's material, it's simply because I think I've already used every other word of positive phrasing to toss some laud and love their way. But let's get into it...their self-titled debut album is out today via Warp, and it jumps immediately to the top of my be[a]st albums of the year thus far. It's gonna stay there come year's end as well. Trust!

There's been quite the impressive media blitz from Camp THiTH over the past few days, all leading up to yesterday/today's official release date (yes, them lucky UKers get the disc a day early as per usual). The band spoke with NME about the album, and gave insightful info as to their inspirations for each and every song. You can read up on that here.

The Brooklyn duo also released a mixtape which pulls from all of their musical and artistic influences, and you can go give a grab and ear to that gem at this link.

Want to hear the whole album, in rad streaming form? That's right here.

AAAAANNNND, I'm pretty psyched, because The Hundred in the Hands will be live in the East Village Radio studio with me on this Thursday's Belly of the Beast (8pm ET). We'll have a nice catch up chat (they swung through the studio earlier this year with me to say hey and all that) and I'm even gonna give up the decks and let Ellie and J spin some of their favorite tunes.

100% YAY. Buy their amazing debut album here now. FYI, they are also playing Coco66 this Friday in NYC. More info here.

HURTS Reveal Clip of New Song in Video EPK

Coming with the news today that you can now pre-order HURTS' first official single, Better Than Love, the boys from Manchester have just unleashed a new video EPK that has Theo and Adam explaining their processes and methodologies behind some of the best brooding-pop that I've heard in a long while.

Fresh off their highly successful NME tour, Theo takes a moment to chat and wax with fans. Read his words below.

Our first tour.

From the reeds on banks of the concrete rivers of Glasgow, to the lofty heights of Mount Northampton. A boat that rocked and a church that blasphemed in between.

The last three weeks have left us with open eyes and aching hearts. Showing you our songs is something we have resisted for so long, but it makes us so happy to finally share our lives with you. And that you welcomed us so warmly. The theatre, the drama, the gin, Richard, nearly getting arrested in Wrexham, the four tiers of eyes at Koko and the purple rain of Stoke. Every moment that will last forever. It was something to remember, and build a castle upon.

We must finish the album we played you now. Then play it for you some more when the sun comes out. A winter album for the summer breeze. Thank you for singing the words. Thank you for watching and judging. A glass is raised, with your lipstick on the rim.

Until soon,

So that's that...and this is the new video EPK, with a clip of the song Stay. Highly enjoyable and utterly amazing.

Kele - Tenderoni (debut single!)

Want to hear Kele's awesome new single, Tenderoni? BBC and NME Radio have gotten their first plays of it in the books this afternoon, and you can stream it below cause we're cool like that.

And after listening you'll understand why I've never liked Bloc Party. It's because this track is so good and Kele works wonders on his own. The band as a whole? They were boring.

That is all.

Class Actress Played the Studio at Webster Hall

Last night, Brooklyn duo, Class Actress, jumped into the East Village with a tight set of their best tunes. Sharing a bill supported by Your Vegas and Keepaway, along with NME Radio DJ James Theaker, the local act showcased their talents and left me a bigger fan after finally having caught their live performance.

Class Actress is, essentially, the embodiment of Elizabeth Harper: quirky and enigmatic with a splash of subdued showmanship that make her songs both easily accessible and equally digestible. Running through a number of songs you can find on her debut EP, Journal of Ardency, Harper and her accompanying keyer/guitarist gave a simple yet effective set of pop and new wave tunes.

You can buy Class Actress' EP here, or catch them live tonight at Bowery Ballroom, when they open for VV Brown. You can still grab a ticket here.

More pics here, and yes this is a short review, because I'll be at their show tonight as well. So hooray for more words tomorrow!
