Amanda Palmer and Peaches - Map Of Tasmania (The Young Punx Mix)

Well hello there, new musicalities of a peach-a-reach-around variety. Amanda Palmer's new single, Map of Tasmania, has gotten a lot of lovin' thanks to some ukulele-ing radness, and now with an official remix from The Young Punx and a lil' guesto verse from Peaches.

Hey, there's also a video out.

And if you aren't already aware as to what a "map of Tasmania" is, then simply watch. Or click here for the anatomical similarities.

Boom, bam, pow.

Garbage Working on New Album

Following the release of 2005′s Bleed Like Me, Garbage went on an "indefinite hiatus" and frontwoman Shirley Manson began work on a solo project but a mutual contract termination with the label ended that endeavor. The band briefly reunited to perform a gig at a benefit concert in 2007 and then released a greatest hits album inciting rumors that the band would begin working on new material.

On October 27 at the University of the West of Scotland, Manson announced that the band is now working on a new album. While chatting with students about a career in the music industry she said, “I’m working on a record right now with the band. We’ve recorded quite a lot but it’s difficult to quantify. It’s the first one in a long time. I took about five years off. I’d like to do some touring next year.”

She did not elaborate on the musical direction of the new album or when it would be released., but did note that, “We’re just winging it right now.”

This is the best news, oh, in EVER.

Now, let's jump back to August of 2005 when Garbage synced up with Peaches at NYC's Amsterjam festival. I was there and it's still one of my most favorite concert experiences ever. Check the video below.

Peaches - Jonny (new single!)

Errrrrrr....stop the presses, and stop your salivations, because before you get too excited, Peaches, you got a lot 'o 'splainin' to do! In the long-running series of Suicide tribute EPs, a new set is coming forthwith on August 30, and in addition to Effi Briest and Alan Vega himself contributing a rare B-side, the queen of all things clashed up in electronic fashion offers up her spin on a classic cover of one of the protopunk band's well-known songs.

The iconic musician led Suicide to infamy during the punk era, becoming outcasts with their adoption of primitive electronica. Johnny was originally featured on the band's debut album and showcases their more elegiac side. When the frontman turned 70 last year, prompting blastfirstpetite to organize a series of singles in which artists would tackle their favorite Suicide / Alan Vega tracks. Now, Peaches is due to take part, with her effort due later this month.

A striking cover, Peaches added her own feminine charm to Jonny (sans "h"), while retaining the grit and grumbliness of the original. Limited to just 1500 copies (order here), the one-off single also features a very-NSFW drawing by respected artist Cary Kwok.

Peaches follows in line with artists who have taken part in the series, including: Klaxons, Bruce Springsteen, The Horrors, Primal Scream amongst others.

Have a listen in below.

Gonzales - I Am Europe (new single & video!)

Patient, we've been, since last getting word of what the eclectically-talented Chilly Gonzales has been getting himself involved with lately. After his residency at Joe's Pub earlier this year, he then went to stage a live two-man performance of Jesus Christ Superstar with Peaches (they're bringing the show here in December) and announced his involvement with the lass and fellow electro-head, Tiga, on a new chess-themed movie collaboration, Ivory Tower. Now, we're back on the Gonzo tip, with a new single headed our way in two short weeks.

I Am Europe is the single, and it's every bit the hushy vocaled intro set upon funky beats and piano licks, before Gonzales leaps in with his signature rap-talks haunting the mid minutes. Ever the showman, the song is an entertaining invasion into your wanting earholes.

Chilly's I Am Europe will be released on August 15 via Boys Noize Records, with remixes from Claude Van Stroke, Djedotronic and Dirty Doering, along with a the original and a capella versions. Get it here.

The video for the track is out now, which also features Gonzo's pal, Tiga, looking majorly faaahhhbulous. Awww...friends.

Peaches: The Wheelchair Show Mini-Doc and NYC Gets Peaches Christ Superstar!

For those of you who follow Peaches closely, you’ll know that recently, whilst performing at the Marés Vivas Festival 2010 in Portugal, she screwed up her ankle big time at the beginning of her set – it was a giant leap from the drum riser in the mammoth ghillie suit that did it...but of course, in true Peaches' style, she finished off the set (including crowd walking!) without a whimper. And the end result? An ankle the size of a melon and a big bad-ass plaster cast around her right leg!

With the Lovebox Weekender in London just two days later, what was she going to do? There’s no way she could cancel!  Ingeniously, Peach got to work on putting together an exclusive set for the London Festival goers – a hilarious performance that will forever be known as The Wheelchair Show.

Watch the mini documentary recounting the tale below (semi-NSFW), then jump after for information on how, when, why and where Peaches will be bringing her Peaches Christ Superstar show (with Chilly Gonzales) to New York City later this year! Best news ever.

Now for the details on Peaches Christ Superstar in NYC...

Peaches will perform the American debut of Peaches Christ Superstar on December 11 at The Concert Hall at The New York Society for Ethical Culture. Her performance with Chilly Gonzales of Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sir Tim Rice's musical, Jesus Christ Superstar, made its worldwide debut in March in Berlin.

Tickets for Peaches Christ Superstar will be available for fans, via pre-sale on Thursday, July 29 at 10am EST. Watch my twitter timeline on Thursday morning for the pre-sale password and link! If you miss the pre-sale, tickets go on sale to the public Friday, July 30 at 10am EST.

Peaches - Show Stopper (new video!)

We're nearing the end of Peaches' full-album cut to video reign from her latest release, I Feel Cream. By my count, we've seen clips from every track to date, save for Mud and Show Stopper, the latter of which we can now add to the list of having an official visual to coincide with the audio. Dadgum, it's a really great one too, and well worth the wait since having seen the Billionaire vid back in March.

Taking the mini-movie route with this effort, Peaches enlisted the directorial work of Caroline Sascha Cogez, and together, they've created an 8-minute "cinema noir" for what is the shortest song on the album, clocking in at 2 minutes and 17 seconds. Filmed in Denmark, the video features Danish actress, Charlotte Munck, along with cameos from a local journalist and an ill-prepared massage table.

This goes beyond a music video. While slightly tongue-in-cheek, Peaches reveals the gritty and raw side of her that we love...even if her female companion thinks otherwise.

Check out the video now.
