Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend (new video!)

Right as this video started, I thought to msyelf, "Hmm, I wonder what Robyn's gonna do when that nifty beat drop hits around the :28 mark of Call Your Girlfriend?", and ol' homegirl does not disappoint. Also, she ensures that I will, from here on out, only dance like so all summer long. Really emotional and very personal. It's all very "Billy Elliott meets Napoleon Dynamite", AKA, super rad.

Ciara - Gimmie Dat (Rye Rye & DJ Sega Remix)

Rye Rye's "eventual" debut album, Go! Pop! Bang!, is maybe, possibly, so we're told now due out on February 22. I guess she was also supposed to put out a mixtape in advance of her freshman offering, but that too, got the push back. RYEot PowRR (lol) might see daylight soon, but in anticipation of that, as well as the full length, we've got a cut from the unofficial spinner. It's hot. Album delays are not.

R-Squared teams up with DJ Sega for a remix of Ciara's Gimmie Dat.

Here in Beastonia, we really like the original, but we super totes love the remix.

Git it, gurl. Or gurls. And boyz.

Sidney Samson (ft Twista) - Shake That Thing (Riverside) [new video!]

Uhhhhn yeah! Wiggle and wobble and jiggle and shake. That's what's popping in Beastonia this morning thanks to a fresh new video for Sidney Samson's reworked tune Riverside. This time, he's enlisted the quick-lipping of Twista, and the track's got a new name...Shake That Thing (Riverside). The previous video was just, meh, ok. Not the case today, beasts.

There's a cameo from my girl, Rye Rye (and her tour dancers), and oooh wee this clip and bumped up jumper has been rocking my bod all the AM long. Probably will through most of the day too.

Watch now!

Gossip and Rye Rye Heat up NYC at Terminal 5

On a super mega rad warm April night in New York City, one could only dream that the beautiful weather was about as good as it was going to get. Unbeknown to those not inside Terminal 5 this past Friday, a super billing of Phenomenal Handclap Band (who, sadly, we missed thanks to downtown pre-show activities), Rye Rye and Gossip were geared up and ready to take the mercury past a fiery fever.

Jumping straight into the pit for the always energetic Baltimorian's opening set, we caught our favorite nonstop rap and hopper, Rye Rye. With her debut album, Go! Pop! Bang!, finally (hopefully) slated for a later this year release, she powered through favorites like Hardcore Girls and Bang. Sporting a N.E.E.T. mesh top and a pair of jorts (hey, so were we!) the gal got the crowd super amped for the main attraction.

Having first seen Gossip late last year, I'm one of the "newer converts" to their massive fan-base. While I'd always peripherally enjoyed their music, I was lost on the fanaticism as I dug it, but wasn't always a "go-to staple of repeated disc plays" in my repertoire. Their live show, on the other hand, is something to witness. Packed to the seams, the floors of Terminal 5 shook as concert-goers moved nonstop and sang along with each word that front-woman Beth Ditto poured out of her with unmistakable force.

Rounding out a 14-song set with the anthemic, Heavy Cross, the band made their way back on stage for a special encore rendition of Grace Jones' Pull Up to the Bumper. Truly rad indeed!

Rye Rye at The Hype Machine Lose Control 2 Party and Levi's FADER Fort

Let's preface this post by saying: I do not intend on being "with child" soon, if ever, or at all. Now with that said, should I perhaps feel the need to sprout a little beastling, I would hope that post-baby me would be as energetic and fit as Baltimore's Rye Rye. Seriously...girl can work it with the best of 'em!

The hip-hopstress kicked off our Wednesday night in Austin with a fire-fueled performance for The Hype Machine's second annual Lose Control Party.

Paired with 2 male dancers, Rye tore through stompers like Wassup, Bang and Hardcore Girls...eventually asking if any females wanted to join her on stage for the latter. Naturally, this beast took it upon herself to jump on, shake it up and shake it down. (I also grabbed her sunglasses by accident, which are now one of my many Texas souvernirs. Sorry mama!)

On Friday, March 18, Rye Rye also hopped over to the Levi's FADER Fort to make an unannounced appearance, where she was greeted with another dose of fan appreciation, to which she remarked "you guys are the craziest crowd I've ever had!"

More pictures from both events can be found here.
