Everything Everything Cover Rihanna's What's My Name on Radio 1's Live Lounge

This happened on Tuesday morning, but it's about to tickle your fancy today. Everything Everything, that British art rock band who draw wildly affecting sounds of math rock, post-punk and electropop into one fun substance, took to BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge, and as all good performers do, went with a cover of a currently popular tune. Oh nah nah, what's their name? Everything Everything doing doing Rihanna Rihanna justice justice with with What's My Name, What's My Name.

Snagging backing vocals from Sunday Girl (who previously wowed us with a revision of EE's Photoshop Handsome) and Lianne La Havas, their funky, reggae-tinged and soulful cover of the chart-topper has me begging for more.

Hey, let's play it again... Oh nah nah, oh ya ya!

Everything Everything - Photoshop Handsome (Sunday Girl Mix)

Just a lil' something something, or rather, Everything Everything, to get your weekend started off on the right and sexy foot. Sunday Girl snags the vocals on her very own take on the band's fantastic track, Photoshop Handsome.

Sunday girl

We are impressed.

Sunday Girl - Stop Hey (Rusko Remix)

New Sunday Girl single. New remix from Rusko.

Sunday girl

It's called Stop Hey. The fix is called Stop Hey (Rusko Remix).

Cutting edge coverage, breaking news and deliverables here in Beastonia. I mean, really.

Sunday Girl - Tik Tok (Ke$ha Cover)

I'd lie if I said I hadn't ever posted about Ke$ha here in the Beaston pages prior, but that's neither here nor there, because as it stands now, she is an abrasion to the ears. On the flipside, Sunday Girl is anything but that...she of clear vocal tones and impressive original material. She's already covered Laura Branigan and MGMT, but today, she's got that Tik Tok on lock. No, really...this is supa sweet and dare we say intimately awesome. Ke$ha who now?

So here for your morning audible pleasures, you'll find the video of Sunday Girl doing a live acoustic cover of the aforementioned top-of-the-pop chart hit from earlier this year. Additionally, SG has been kind enough to give the cut away for free...so I'm merely passing it along to you with all good intentions, cause well, it blows the original out of the water.

Good on ya, lass!

Sunday Girl - Self Control (new video!)

As in, "so new this came right into my inbox and it's going straight up on the site", along with awesome, mega, rad and "yes I still am infatuated with this cover". Picture me doing those as "air quotes" while I watch Sunday Girl's brand new video for her Laura Branigan cover of Self Control. And whilst you view it too. Aaaaand go!

Pearls, dirt, woodland statues and such...here is the clip.

The single comes out August 2.

Beastly Bits #103

This has been such a long week. Anyone else feeling the grind?

Thank the beastly heavens that it's Friday...don't know if I could have lasted one more workday in this hustle. What I can tolerate is the radness below. We ride!

Aussie entity, Triple J, chose their most loved artists. Do your faves make the cut? link

Arcade Fire's new album, The Suburbs, may be released with eight different covers. The Canadian group's third studio effort is due out on August 2. link

Fenech-Soler remixed Sunday Girl's cover of Laura Branigan's Self Control. It is both amazing and free for you to enjoy as well. Download it after I ramble on a bit more.

Read an interview with Big Boi. Love that dude so much. link

Today marks one year since the untimely passing of Michael Jackson. RIP forever.

Sunday Girl - Self Control (Laura Branigan Cover)

Back in March, we delved into the territory of introductions with new talent, Sunday Girl. Her simply amazing debut single, Four Floors, is one we've still got on repeat, along with subsequent remixes from big name badasses, like Diplo and Russ Chimes. With a take on one of our favorite songs from the early years of a budding and beastly pop lover, the lass wins our love all over again.

Before you get the goodies, let's check in with Sunday Girl and see what she's been up to, shall we? Updating her web site like a fiend? Yes. DJing for TopShop? You know it. Hanging out in the pet store she used to work in? Picture proof!

But it's her steely and stunning cover of Laura Branigan's Self Control that's taken us to the utmost swoon levels today.

We don't need to say anymore. We've got a bona fide beast on the rise.

Introducing: Sunday Girl

Got an email yesterday with nothing more than a link to a new video, from an artist I had previously unheard of. Think of it as a way early heads up on some new tunes that you're sure to swoon for. Everyone, please welcome Sunday Girl to Beastonia!

Sunday Girl hails from London, has only been a MySpace user since earlier this month, and she's got one track in the bag that immediately made me want to hear more. Four Floors is an electrotinged pop tune that washes listeners in a hushy and lushy bath of rhythmic ethereality. Made up words!

This being Sunday Girl's debut single, I was pleased to see that big badasses, Russ Chimes and Diplo (along with Sketch Iz Dead) are on board the remix ride. Four Floors sees a proper outing on March 28.

Video for the single is below.
