Robyn - Call Your Girlfriend (new video!)

Right as this video started, I thought to msyelf, "Hmm, I wonder what Robyn's gonna do when that nifty beat drop hits around the :28 mark of Call Your Girlfriend?", and ol' homegirl does not disappoint. Also, she ensures that I will, from here on out, only dance like so all summer long. Really emotional and very personal. It's all very "Billy Elliott meets Napoleon Dynamite", AKA, super rad.

Teddybears (ft Robyn) - Cardiac Arrest

So, this is rad then, eh? On their sixth studio album, Devil's Music, the Swedes of Teddybears threw down with Mapei for a track called Cardiac Arrest. But I guess that wasn't quite good enough for mainstream ears? Because the song is out now as an official single, only this time, they've roped in their pal and countrywoman, Robyn, to refresh the vocals. Its super cute and unbearably infectious. See what we did there. Bears... unbearably. We cool.

Buy the single here, or get the full album at this link, if you're in Sweden. She ain't out in the States as of this moment.

This disc is an overlooked piece of pop awesomeness that showcases a number of featured and guest vocalists who we're into, such as: Cee-Lo, Eve and The B-52's. What?!

Beastly!

The Sounds - Better Off Dead (new single!)

It's quite the obvious observation that I am, in fact, a big ol' fan of The Sounds. First off, they're Swedish, so, duh, there's that. But on top of that, they've put out three solid discs of new wave and pop, they're musically strong and heck, the quintet ain't so hard on the eyes either. With their 4th studio album due out later this Spring, it's time we revisit the sounds of, oh yeah... them.

The sounds

Earlier this week, The Sounds premiered the title track off of their forthcoming release, Something to Die For, which will see daylight on March 29 via SideOneDummy Records. The cut is a synth-intro'd slice of kickdrummery and rising arrangements that makes the audio so instantly recognizable as coming from Maja and the boys. Pretty good stuff in which the pre-chorus echoes like No One Sleeps When I'm Awake version 2.0 via 2011. Yeah.

The first single from the effort, however, gets a little dancier, trancier, all up in your pantsier, and the darker tones emanated in this one are also immediately infectious. Better Off Dead was released just yesterday, and it's a smash waiting to hit your ear holes. Harmonies and melodies power the pulse of this tune, and we like it. A lot. Especially that middle middy mid section from about 2:10 to 3:15 where the song hits a curve then wraps and warps its way back around to one. So good.

You get both songs on the free tip, after you scope the track list for Something to Die For. Also, what's up with "death" prevalent in the two song titles? Oh well, they're great live too, so carry on.

Savage Skulls & Robyn - Bad Gal (new video)

Only been loving on this song like, um, well over some year+ status now. And sure, we've writ about it in bits and pieces since hearing the eensiest weensiest snippet of it, but in full, Savage Skulls and Robyn's Bad Gal is in part, infectious and in whole, beastly. And now, we've got official clippage of the cut, meaning, ay yo, it's the video! Love love love.

Lykke Li - I Follow Rivers (new single) and The Magician Remixes Said Song

I Follow Rivers is the forthcoming single off of Lykke Li's highly anticipated sophomore album. She's already performed the track live at a number of venues, including at NYC's le poisson rouge last month, and now you can hear the full version, along with an official remix from The Magician, who has basically been blowing my gaskets off with his stellar touch.

Lykke li

1. You are welcome.

2. Oh yeah.

3. LISTEN!

Lykke Li - Get Some (Beck Remix)

Oh well happy Sunday morning to you too, Lykke Li... and Beck. After hearing the masterfully crafted 808 mix of the Swedish singers' new single, Get Some, by mic fiend Mike D, it was only a matter of time before we could 'ear the Odeladian's take on the same track.

Lykke li

Crunchy guitars and marching line drum beats perforate the original tune, and yep, we're shouting it out now, that this fix...

...is Beaston approved.

Ace of Base - The Golden Ratio (new single!)

Rather, they're calling it the comeback single. And when I say "they", I mean 2 hot new dime pieces on the arms of the old dudes from Ace of Base...or something along those lines. A couple months ago, I featured two new tracks from the Swedish outfit, and whilst roughly 'eared in demo form, sure, we were fanned out enough to keep playing 'em. But the new disc, which shares the same name as the official legit "so that's what they're calling it" comeback tune, is The Golden Ratio. Let's discuss.

Ace of base

Actually, I lied...there's not much to talk about. It sounds like AoB doing AoB twenty years later at an AoB karaoke reunion night.

That said: I can get behind it.

DUH.

Robyn - Indestructible (A-Trak Remix)

Open your ears and hearts you little beasts...for something so worthy of your attention that I didn't even listen to A-Trak's remix of Robyn's Indestructible all the way through before opening up this page to start writing and posting and swooning. So now, I'm doing all three of those actions whilst the remainder of the song plays and you should probably join me on this sexy lil' journey right now.

Robyn

Annie Mac debuted this fix on her Friday night show over on the BBC's Radio 1. Love ya girl, but hey musicians, DJs and producers, how's about sharing the wealth with another chick who's got the Thursday night radio radness tip on lock here in the States.

I'M JUST SAYING.

Love this.

September - Resuscitate Me (new song and video!)

Ummm you guys! Robyn and Lykke Li are not the only Swedish pop stars I swoon for. And while September has had nowhere near the crossover success that the former two have had in the States, she still gets a lot of attention in her homeland...and from my beastly "thoughts to fingers to paper/post" writings. See, I've loved up on her big room banger with a sweet voice style for years, and getting word that she's got a new single and video is like, muah, adding extra sugar on this heaping pile of pleasured guilt I have for her music.

September

New song is called Resuscitate Me, and it bangs, in that "oh tee hee look at me I'm a Euro popstar that can't quite afford Guetta, but this still makes nerds like Sheena Beaston get buckwild" kind of way.

There is also a new video for it.

I may have also played this on repeat for the past 41 minutes. No lie.
