The Culture of Me Presents: Lioness, Deluka and The Knocks at Union Hall on Friday

I sincerely hope you don't already have plans this Friday. Or, if you do, I'd be aces with you cancelling 'em so you can hit up Union Hall for a pretty tight lineup of music, friends and fun. See, our buddy Jeff over at The Culture of Me went and curated a pretty killer lineup of live music, and even if he hadn't been involved, I'd still totes have posted this. His inclusion just sweetens the pot all that much more. Onward info...

With a bill boasting Lioness and Deluka, topped with a DJ set from our pals The Knocks, I can guarantee you will have a killer time disco dancing, definitely drinking, but all around diving in on a night of awesome awesomeness.

For a 10-spot, you also get to kick it at the free after-party with Karaoke Killed the Cat. Super win.

And just to prove I'm not a complete dill who only posts images that have been manipulated, here's the full event flyer. Because caring is sharing, and that is the beastly thing to do.

The Knocks - Make It Better (Good Goose Remix)

**EXCLUSIVE**

I love when my musically-rad pals join forces for some beastly badassery. The Knocks' Make It Better has already made it's way to eclipsing a number of great songs on my high-ranking playlist, but now that the single is officially out today, a mega huge remix package exists alongside the stellar original...and we get to join in the fun.

As mentioned, the single sees a proper release today, and I couldn't be more psyched to wrap my ears around each of the subsequent mixes. But we're gonna focus on just one...and that comes courtesy of our buddy Rich aka Good Goose of the insanely talented NYC-trio, Menya!

Having already proved his chops with his original productions, along with a rad as ish remix for fellow Beaston-faves, MEN, the Goosed gent twirls his magic wand and ta-dah...we have a jukin', jammin' mix of the single.

This is point where we go: "um, play, rewind, play, repeat, etc...". You can do it too. After you buy dis fiyah!

The Knocks Make Everything Better By Giving Me Something I Can Dance To and Just Generally Being Rad at Music

Yeah, it's as simple as that long ass post title up above, but local dudeboys, The Knocks, really know how to get my goat. No wait, that means they'd irk me right? Phrase fail. Anyway, B-Roc and JPatt do know one thing, if all else...and that's how to make really solid pop tunes. And how to make me smile and dance and feel really good. So in essence, that's way more than one thing, but shucks, I'm too much in a "lovin' on these tunes" kind of mood to care.

In addition to pumping out sick remixes and producing works for up-and-coming need-to-knowers, these two cool cats have their own thing going on...and that's in the form of their original constructions.

Up first we've got Make It Better, a whistler of a clap-happy track that immediately transports me to daydreamsville, in which I'm on a beach, toes in sand and drink in hand. It's like a mini-vacation every time I toss this gem on. Then we move onto Something I Can Dance To. Boys, you've already sold me with the title...and then the song begins and yeah, it's totally a sweet slice to shimmy and shake to. On this cut, the pair swiped Alphabeat's DJ as a base, cranked it up and turned it out with this mass appealer.  It's an immediate piece of radness, and it got a little extra lovin' when I spun it on EVR last Friday.

If you're not up on The Knocks...start here. Cause soon you'll be gettin' down with 'em too.

The Knocks - Blackout (and Good Goose Remix!)

**EXCLUSIVE**

The Knocks have become somewhat of an NYC staple of the funkiest and freshest remixes of some of our already favorite artists. See: Marina, Ellie, Kay-Z, Britney, etc. But did you also know that in addition to their stellar production work, they've got quite the talent for making an original track of their own just as rad as any rework they've ever done? Yeah...they DO.

About a week and a half ago, The Knocks unleashed their debut single, Blackout. According to the boys: "Make sure you are in a party state of mind and have thespeakers turned way up when you listen to this one."

Blackout is the first in a string of singles that they will be releasing through HeavyRoc Music this summer. It will be released via iTunes on May 4 along with edits, covers and remixes from Xaphoon Jones, Samuel, Fear Of Tigers, Yes Giantess and more.

As a lil' beastly exclusive, we've got our pal Good Goose (from Menya!) and his remix of the single to dose you with. This one takes the track a bit darker but equally in the same rad direction.
