Metric - Stadium Love (new video!)

In a twisted world of Oz (kind of), Metric's new video goes all "lions, and tigers, and bears, and Canadians, oh my!" Ha...I make myself laugh sometimes. What is super not-laughable yet extremely rad to the max, however, is the band's new new new video for Stadium Love. Let's get wild.

In a note from the foursome, they hint at who their new co-stars in the clip are, but if you know the lyrics of the song, then you can guess who they've enlisted to feature. Read on.

Hi everyone,

Recently we had the pleasure of making a video for our song Stadium Love with some new wild friends.

As one of the sentiments expressed in the song is man's disregard for the natural world around us, we were concerned with how the animals we would be working with would be treated.  Rest assured, not only were these animals treated with love, respect and tenderness, they were the stars.  The word divas comes to mind. It was perfect, we worked on their schedule and pace.

Needless to say, you will see what an amazing experience it was for us to be this up close and personal with these stunningly powerful Hollywood stars. Yes it is truly very close.

Literally...awesome. Watch now.

Furacao 2000 x Fever Ray x The Twelves - Um Tapinha Nao Doi (André Paste Mash)

Let it be known, my Portugese is mega shaky. And by that, I mean I know not one lick of the language, although with a bit of help from some friends and online translatorials, I was able to come up with the English equivalent of what this track is trying to say, who the original artist is, and so on and so forth. So say thank you...because that's more work and research than I've done in a long time. Also, this mix is killing me so sweetly right now, so you should probably join in the fun.

This mash, mix, medley of radness comes from André Paste, who apparently (at least according to his press blurbs on MySpace) has seen quite a good bit of positive reviews of his past work. Here, the Brazilian takes Furacao 2000's Um Tapinha Nao Doi (translated as Hurricane 2000's A Paddling Not Hurts), lifts the vocals and lays them ever so effortlessly on his fellow countrymen, The Twelves' remix of the hauntingly special Fever Ray track, Seven.

Yep, this goes on repeat for the rest of the afternoon. But you probably already knew that was coming.

Metric Add North American Tour Dates

Metric have just announced new US tour dates and thankfully, one of our favorite Canadian imports are finally swinging through New York City for a proper live performance. Still touring in support of 2009's spectacular album Fantasies, the band has added four shows to their trek of the States.

Coming off a string of shows down in Austin for SXSW, including sharing a bill with Muse over at Stubb's, Metric keep powering on through their tour of the territories. The band also has revealed that they're heading back to Montreal this summer for Osheaga. They'll be taking the stage on Sunday, August 1 (stay tuned for set time). Early bird passes are available now - check out the details here.

Check out the SPIN/Pepsi Refresh Challenge also, where Metric goes head-to-head with Broken Social Scene for a $100k grant to work with the Women's Funding Network, whose goal is to help eradicate the exploitation of women in America.

Now for those all important new US dates. See below. (link to purchase here)

May 16 -- New York City (Terminal 5)
May 18
-- Columbus (Newport Music Hall)
May 19 -- Cleveland (House Of Blues)
May 20 -- Chicago (Vic Theater)

Husky Rescue - Sound Of Love (The Twelves Remix)

Sweet Scandinavia! Generally we gravitate towards all things Swedish and Nordic, but when I stumble upon some Finnish radness, it's equally as hard to turn a deaf ear. Enter Husky Rescue...and inevitably, my favorite listening pleasure with the assistance of the Brazilian Beaston-faves, The Twelves.

Let it be known that on their own, Husky Rescue stand on solid ground. Creating "tracks designed to be a warm breeze to counter the chill of daily life, whether you live in cold climes or not", the Helsinki quintet released their 4th studio album, Ship of Light, earlier this year.

Within said offering is the dreamy ditty, Sound of Love, anchored by xylophones, sexy guitars and the flirtatious vocals of Marko Nyberg. So to take the song from a [bedroom] wide-eyed wonder to a hustle-worthy hand-clapper, the band found solace in The Twelves.

There's no denying my love for every single piece of material the boys have put out, so to claim this as simply another obsession doesn't do their fix any justice. They go beyond transformation into the most magical metamorphosis with this mix. If there was any output from this year that I could guarantee would make any single one person move to groove...then there's no question.
