Cocknbullkid - Cocknbullkid (new name and song!)

No, I didn't slip up and type the artist name and song as the same bit. Anita Blay, formerly known as thecocknbullkid (and also known as a beastly-favorite of ours), decided to freshen up her moniker. So, sans "the", let's introduce ourselves to Cocknbullkid. Also, we're gonna get familiar with a self-titled song that's making this shit-filled day all that much lighter. Thanks girl.

Cocknbullkid

As Blay notes: "I have dropped the ‘the’ from my name. So I’m just Cocknbullkid now. All still one word but not all lower case. So still pedantic but I could be worse." The song is, aptly-titled, Cocknbullkid. The self-referential track comes courtesy of production work from Liam Howe (Marina and the Diamonds' chief producer/writer) and the talented hands of piano-pioneer, Gonzales.

A touch of "Alice in Wonderland-esque" lyrics about taking pills to make ya big and small fit nicely with the light and breezy track.

Yours, mine and hers below.

thecocknbullkid - Hold On To Your Misery

This is the cutest interpretation of feeling down in the dumps that you might ever hear. I love thecocknbullkid, and the lass has long been on our radar, long been preparing the release of her debut album, and long long longly been longed for in our ears via the course of new tunes. I like repeating things. So here, I'll say again, I love thecocknbullkid. Also, this new song is pretty jamalicious.

Premiering the track on BBC, DJ voice dudes Huw and Rob Da Bank had the exclusive radio play of Hold On To Your Misery last week. It will serve as the first single from her upcoming freshman offering, Adulthood. The single will be out in September, with the album due out at some point. Yeah, sorry, I don't particularly know when, but I do know that means it's not soon enough.

And yes boys and beasts, it's a fairly tidy radio rip, so there's a bit of the Huw speak for a few seconds.

Still, it does not make the song any less awesome.

Beastly Bits #44

I'm almost 100% back in fine form after a rad last week in Austin for SXSW. Sure, my vocals are still strained like I've been on a shouting spree for days, but hey, all in all, it was totally worth it.

That said, many thanks for your patience in my absenteeism. Updates from the fest will be flying at you all day today and through tomorrow. Timeliness...we try.
