Crystal Castles Announce 2011 Tour Dates

There's no way I'm missing this. After catching Crystal Castles at Terminal 5 back in August, I swore I would always make every effort to hit their live performances, and now, with the announcement of a ton of tour dates in the impending year, I can start counting down the days until I'll be in fit of sweat and rage once again. 148. THAT'S how many days until they come back to NYC. Nerding the heck out!

Natalia Kills and Robyn to Tour Together This Fall

Last week, ish got real "fashion-y" here in Beastonia. Between a number of night parties and the always fun Fashion's Night Out, this sheen little streetstomper hit a handful of cool venues and digs all in the spirit of "oh hey, who are you wearing?!" And while I've never been one to preen a ton, music and fashion go kind of hand in hand, which led me to the Prince Peter preview on Wednesday, specifically to catch the first live performance in NYC by Natalia Kills. Grouping together all of this info with the fact that she's just been announced as the supporting act for Robyn's forthwith Fall tour, we're gearing up to stomp stilettos on necks through the rest of the year!

Natalia's performance at the aforementioned event was brief, as she powered through a short medley of 3 songs: Zombie, Wonderland and Mirrors, the latter is one I simply have not been able to turn off since hearing it in full a few months prior. She commanded the platform for the few minutes she occupied it, and I'm excited to see a full stage from her...and soon we'll all be able too when she joins forces with the Swedish popstar on their North American tour.

Additionally, it should be noted that Ms. Kills came through Belly of the Beast on East Village Radio last Thursday as well. We had a rad chat, and even debuted the brand new and official Doctor Rosen Rosen remix of Mirrors.

There are more pictures from the event here, a video below, and after that, the tour dates for the upcoming Natalia Kills and Robyn trek. Color me excited!

All is Full of Love: Robyn and Kelis Bring Their All Hearts Tour to Music Hall of Williamsburg

When Robyn and Kelis announced their joining of forces for their one-two punch of a dance-pop bill earlier this summer, it was with 100% anticipatory fan-girl excitement that I began counting down the days to their All Hearts Tour pit stop in NYC. Last night's first showing at Music Hall of Williamsburg (2 more sold out shows at Webster Hall next week) was precisely the excitable romp and rad time I could have ever imagined. Having seen both artists perform prior, this super special double headlining bill left me weak, wowed and wielding a heart ready to burst with adoration and appreciation.

Opening the evening's festivities were Far East Movement. Although the crowd was still noticeably thin for the early set from the Los Angeles hip-hop troupe, they took the stage with more energy than I can recall an act ever having for a 7pm time-slot. Following their lead, London's Dan Black began his set with my favorite of his tunes, Pump My Pumps, which comes from his debut album, ((UN)). Near the end of his time, the room began to fill more rapidly, as wanting hearts were eager for the girls to get their groove on.

Tegan and Sara - On Directing (new video!)

From their 2009 album, Sainthood, Tegan and Sara continue to put out more videos and new "tour-only" EPs in support of the effort. Currently, we have a new video for On Directing, one of my favorite cuts from the disc, and on August 10, they'll debut a clip for Northshore, which was actually filmed on the same day as the one we're about to watch below.

The twins also announced The 2010 Summer Tour EP, which has six tracks from the four bands who are touring together this summer on The Honda Civic Tour. It includes two tracks from Paramore, two from T+S, one from New Found Glory and one from Kadawatha. The girls' two tracks included on the disc are: Sheets, a true Sainthood b-side that never saw release, but is only the second official Tegan and Sara writ-collaboration to be let out (Paperback Head being the other). The other is a live acoustic version of Back in Your Head, from an Australian tour date.

US iTunes has the disc. Cop it here.

Now watch the video for On Directing. Ooooh, lights.
