Yeasayer - Crazy (Seal Cover)

Never thought you'd see a Seal song here in these pages, eh? Nor did I, but when Brooklyn's Yeasayer heads down under, specifically to Australia's Triple J show to crush a cover of Crazy, the results are fantastic. It's like getting a kiss from a rose. #immediatefacepalm for that innuendo.

Beastly Bits #49

Today's bits (and subsequent posts) are slightly differerent than normal (read = quick and to the point). I'm working a half day today (oh hello, Good Friday observance at the day job), so I gotta do something to get out the most info possible in a shortened set of time.

There's no complaints on my end for the early out today...here's to hoping you'll have none either. Also, it's going to be nearly 70 degrees in NYC today. Grin and win!

Beastly Bits #32

3rd straight day of rain and itk's starting to wear on us here in NYC. It's a wintry mix of a mess, and we're none too pleased with you, mother nature.

On the flip-side, we are pretty stoked about the influx of tunes and tidbits we've cooked up this morning. You win some, and hell, you win some. Go redundancies!

Electroqueer sat down with one of our beastly-idols, Janice Dickinson, about her...wait for it...new dance single. Read Raj's interview with the fashion icon here.

Natalie Imbruglia scaled the Sydney Opera House for a shoot with photographer Chris Searl. Read and view the stunning feature here

Special midnight screenings of The White Stripes' documentary, Under Great White Northern Lights, will take place on March 11. Full list of cities/theaters hosting the event can be obtained at this link.

Immuzikation pops by with a hearty hello in the form of his new blend. Want some Yeasayer with your morning Vampire Weekend? Then download his newest blend, Giving Up the Alp, below.

The NYC/LA duo, High Places, have created the latest mix for Dummy. It's a stroll through rock, pop, reggae and funk. Download the mix and read the full feature here.

Yeasayer - Ambling Alp (Alan Wilkis Remix)

The sexy subtlety that is an "Alan Wilkis remix" has once again been bestowed upon Beastonia. Forget any more intro-ing; I'm ready to dive right into this.

Hot off the announcement earlier today that Yeasayer, Major Lazer and Sleigh Bells will be touring together this Spring, I've been giving the experimentally-excellent Brooklyn band's newest disc, Odd Blood, a heavy dose of attention today.

Fitting then, that our inbox blew up with a Wilkis-special, that's been given the "thumbs up" by the originators themselves.

Grabbing lead single, Ambling Alp, and playing up the ornery tricks and ticks of the original, our buddy Alan gave us a new addition to our OB-playlist. He cuts out nearly a minute of the song, but we're not mad at him. No, quite the opposite. 3 minutes of fun and punchy power.
